ETHANS POV:
It's crunch time. We're about to go to the airport to meet Holly. Paisley is looking as white as a ghost, and she's even put on a loose white shirt in the case that Holly spots something. Her bump hasn't grown a single bit since I first looked, so I don't know why it's such a problem.
"Alright, let's go." I say, grabbing her hand. Holly has her car in the airport parking, so we are going to take the bus. We slowly walk down to the bus stop, knowing we still have a few minutes before it's supposed to get there. We sit down on the bench for a few minutes until we see the bus in the distance. She stands up slowly as the bus pulls up and the doors open. We step inside, pay and walk down the aisle to a spare seat.
"Hey, are you Ethan Karpathy!?" Some girl yells from the front of the bus. Oh shit. They've started to recognise me.
"Oh my god, it is!" Another girl shouts. Soon the bus is filled with whispers.
"Should we?"
"I don't know! You do it"
"We can always get the one after!"
I wish they would just leave me alone. I am here with my girlfriend, and if they try and get closer to me, they're just going to push Paisley away. The last thing I need is to get mobbed at the airport. Then I feel my phone vibrate. A Twitter and an Instagram notification.
@Margaritapizza
'I can't believe I'm sitting on the same bus as @ethankarpathy!
I shove my phone back into my pocket as we arrive at the airport. I stand up and go after Paisley, making sure nothing happens to her. She looks kind of scared but she walks down the middle of the aisle as quickly as possible. All these girls started grabbing and taking photos of me. I actually hate to blow off my fans, but Paisley comes first. I feel my phone vibrate again as that same girl tweeted again.
@ethankarpathy is going to the airport.
I suddenly get a whole sinking feeling as I slowly turn around to see about ten smiling faces behind me. Paisley stops and turns around, walking back but standing behind me.
"What do you girls want?" I sigh, trying not to sound rude. The air fills up with questions.
"Can you please sign this!?"
"Can I have a photo?"
I look over to Paisley and she just nods. I smile a thanks and go give the fans what they want. A few minutes later, I look over to see a girl talking to Paisley. I can just hear what they are saying. This actually makes me feel a funny warm feeling inside.
"Hey, are you Paisley? The model and Ethan's girlfriend?" The girl asks her.
"Um, yeah that's me." Paisley shrugs.
"You're just as pretty in person! I thought they just scripted all of that and made you look really good on the night." the girl says.
"None of that was scripted." Paisley laughs. I now stop signing and smile at their conversation.
"Well, you two are so cute. Don't let any haters push you around." the girl says. I'm glad we have fans like that.
"Have you got a private Instagram or something that I can DM you on?" The girl asks.
"No, I only have one instagram. I don't really open DM's because lots of them are hate. You can have my number if you want, and I'll follow you" Paisley smiles. I didn't know she was getting hate, but I need to let her know that she can't give her number out too often.
"That would be amazing. I promise I won't tell anyone, can I get a photo?" The girl asks.
"Yeah, sure." Paisley replies. They trade numbers then take a quick photo. I go back to signing and taking photos until everyones done. I look at the time, then at Paisley. We both realise at the same time that we need to get there now. Holly's plane was due in three minutes. We run for the doors and are immediately swarmed by girls. I honestly didn't think I was this popular, but I guess Twitter is a great way to get the word out fast. What kind of girl would see Twitter and just leave to go to the airport like that? What kind of parent would just let their kid drop what they're doing and go see some guy? We attempt to push our way through the crowd but fail epically. Eventually a bunch of security officers come over and spot us. At first, they think Paisley is just one of them and try to take her away from me. They just ignore her when she says she's with me.
"No, honestly! She's my girlfriend!" I defend her.
It takes a while, but we eventually convince the security officer that she's with me. I don't know why you wouldn't believe the actual guy you were protecting as a security guard. We are escorted through the crowd and squeeze out the other side like toothpaste. We tell him which flight we're here for and he takes us to a gate. Holly is already waiting there, sitting on a seat. She's nursing Jack and Rachael is in the pram.
"I'm so sorry, we got mobbed." I apologise, walking up to her.
"Hey guys! I'm so sorry that all took so long, it was all for a good cause, I swear. But right now, we need to get home because I have some news." she announces, standing up. Paisley takes Jack and swaps him for Rachael. I push the pram, waking next to Paisley. She's nursing Rachel, bobbing her up and down. For 16 months, they're doing really good.
We are taken through a little side door by the security guard, then taken to our car in storage and hop in, strapping Rachael and Jack in. I sit in the front while Paisley sits in between the two baby seats. It doesn't take long to get home, but when we do, it's a struggle getting the kids inside and to bed. I would like to say babies, but they're definitely not babies anymore. They are tired and cranky from all the flying. We end up just shutting the door on them.
I was surprised at how long that took Paisley and I. Holly had managed to drag her suitcase into her room, half unpack it, change into better clothes and have a roast dinner on cooking. We walk out into the kitchen to the beautiful smell of roast potatoes.
"What's the news?" Paisley asks.
"You'll find out at dinner." Holly replies.
We both shrug and head up to my room. I guess this means we will be sleeping in our own rooms again. Well that sucks.
"Am I supposed to be acting sad?" Paisley asks.
"Oh I totally forgot. Just go into her room after dinner or something." I admit.
"Yeah, alright."
We sit on the floor, talking about nothing until something she says catches in my mind.
"How many kids do you think we will end up with?" She asks.
"How many do you think you want?" I ask.
"I dunno, one or two," she replies. "What about you?"
"I'm really not sure. I'm sure fate will decide." I sigh.
We can't say anything else on it because Holly calls us for dinner. We are both eager to hear this so called 'news' she has in stall for us. We run down the stairs and are mentally slammed in the face by a table setting. Holly has done everything up all fancy. The table has a red tablecloth over it with silver cutlery and the white plates from the cupboard that we only use on special occasions. There are three wine glasses and a bottle of sparkling apple juice in the centre of the table.
"Woah, this is so fancy." Paisley breathes, taking it all in.
"Okay, I want you to know that this really isn't changing anything. You still won't technically be related but it's just something big and exciting in my mind?" holly says, confusing me a bit.
"Wait what?" I ask, matching Paisley's confused expression.
"I wasn't really at a conference," Holly says excitedly. "I was adopting you."
