BRAIS POV:
She's in the bathroom getting ready. I don't even know what she's wearing, but I hope it looks good. Who am I even kidding? Of course she'll look good. She looks good in basically anything.
"Are you done yet!?" I call.
"I'm doing my hair! Calm down!" She yells back.
I check my watch and see that we still have half an hour. I sigh and lay back on my bed, staring at the roof. I check my phone percentage and continue to stare at nothing. Then I hear some clicking coming from the bathroom and the door opens. I hear heels on the floor as Paisley walks into my room. My jaw drops.
"Do I look okay?" She asks seriously, obviously nervous.
"You look fucking amazing." I say under my breath.
"Sorry?" She asks. She didn't hear me, thank god.
"Sorry, you look really good. Let's go." I cover, standing up. I check her out again, trying not to make it obvious. The way that blue dress sits on her is just perfect.
(A/N: picture up top. I couldn't find a picture of a dress that actually looked pike what I had in mind, but that was the basis)
The school is only on the next block, so we could get there easily. Mum left this afternoon. It's not dark yet, but the sun has almost set. We don't really talk much on the way, and I can tell her shoes are hurting.
"Am I playing the slutty girlfriend act tonight?" She asks, breaking the silence. At first, I thought she was joking, then I realise she's not.
"I don't think so. I'm hoping everyone treats me normally and nothing will be a problem. I'm not entirely sure." I reply honestly. Maybe I should have said yes, just for the boys' sake.
"Let me know." she says, the silence filling the air again. I see a few familiar people as we get closer.
Once we arrive there, I walk her around to the oval and see the guys hanging out under the big gum tree. Most of them have girls with them, but some don't.
"Brai!" Someone calls as I get closer.
"Dude! Welcome back."
"You made it!"
"Finally!"
A whole heap of guys shout different things at us before we stop in front of them, sitting down.
"Guys, this is Paisley." I introduce.
Some guys give me this stare, letting me know they are jealous. Everyone shouts out their name at her, leaving her looking a little scared. She quickly recovers and smiles at them. I look to the other corner of the oval and see a big mob of year eleven students shoving bottles into backpacks. That's when I realise it's going to be exactly like last holiday dance. I watch everyone stand up around us and I realise that the doors must have opened. One of the girls calls Paisley over, so I tell her to find me once we're inside. The guys come over and start questioning me.
"Where did you pick her up?"
"She's hot as fuck, man."
"Why didn't you tell us?"
"How far have you guys gone?"
"How long have you guys been together?"
"How the fuck did you pick a girl like that up?"
This is pissing me off.
"We're not together." I say quickly, leading the way to the doors. I instantly regret walking out the front so obviously. I should of blended in. I honestly thought these girls weren't crazy, I was wrong. At first a few come over, but then I am swamped by girls trying to talk to me. Seriously?I'm trying to push and shove through them, but they aren't going away. I walk through the doors and the sound of music blasting is actually soothing. The girls are still around me, trying to grab me to dance with them, fighting each other for it. They won't leave me alone, despite the fact of me asking them to a million times. I look around for Paisley, starting to feel anxious. I don't like this at all. The girls start to blur, and I think I'm going faint. I'm not good at this stuff. My eyes feel heavy and droopy, my head spinning. I see someone in a light blue dress push through all the girls and stand really close.
"Brai!?" I hear Paisley shout. I know it's her, but the word sort of echoes around in my head. The girls are still clawing at me, and at her for getting so close. I do what my brain tells me, I put my hands on her hips, not wanting to lose her in the crowd. I can sense the anger in the room, but I'm trying to focus just on Paisley, trying to stay conscious. I feel her slide her arms around my neck, as though she's letting the rest of the girls know she's here with me. I can tell she knows I don't feel good right now. The girls actually try to pull her off of me, and it's getting out of hand. It's like time stops, but it sure shuts them up. Paisley kisses me. She kisses me.
It's not quick, and I know she's only doing it so the girls leave me alone. I still feel faint, my visions blurry and all I'm aware of is that she is still kissing me. She's kissing me in the way she kisses Ethan, trying to convince the girls that we're together so they'll go. I blink a couple of times and try to play my part in the act, trying to keep myself from fainting. The song changes and I can tell some of the girls are slowly disappearing. This song is slower, and she pulls away. She rests her head on my shoulder and talks in my ear, but I don't really understand her. It sounds like a fuzzy mess of sound. Blue lines start to form in my already blurry vision, and the music blends into all the other sounds. I almost feel myself falling, falling to sleep or unconsciousness. I can hear my heartbeat in my ear, and nothing else.
Pretty soon everything just fades to black, the world disappearing around me.
