"Sometimes,
you do things that feel bad later
just so you won't feel worse right now."

Daphne examined the jewelry box that sat on her vanity, blurred by the tears coating her eyes. Her fingers ran across it delicately as she let her mind drift back to the era in which he had given it to her.

Even though she barely remembered anything about their friendship and childhood together ten years ago, she knew for sure that everything had to have been easier. She knew that even if they fought, it wasn't anything that couldn't be resolved with something as simple as a piece of candy. And she knew that once resolved, it was forgotten and never brought up again. She knew they would not keep score and purposely hurt each other to try getting even. She knew that a mistake would be seen as a mistake and would not classify either of them as an evil person. Or specifically, a hoe, as he had just left her feeling.

She pushed the jewelry box aside, not wanting to think of him anymore, and lifted her depressing gaze to the mirror, her bloodshot eyes only reminding her of him and why she couldn't stop crying incessantly.

Instead, she stood up from her vanity and trudged back to her bed, the once comfortable piece of furniture now tainted with regret.

She picked up her phone, feeling the need to talk to someone about it. To vent about it in hopes that doing so would drive away some of that negative energy he had left behind in there.

She thought about Andrea, but that girl was too positive and Daphne could already hear what she would say. Most likely, something about not letting it bother her and just let herself live like no tomorrow.

That wasn't going to work for her at the moment. What she needed was someone more realistic. Someone like...

"Eva?"

"Hey, what's up?" Eva answered, smacking David's hand away as he tried to snatch the phone from her to hang up so they could continue to rehearse their lines in his room.

"Can we talk?" Daphne tried to keep a rigid voice but a loud sob broke out against her will, alarming Eva.

"Whoa, are you okay? What happened?"
