I don't hate you, to be honest.
I could never hate you.
I just really hate myself
for letting it get this bad.

Inez sipped from her cup of Pepsi with her eyes fixed on the large screen, trying to pay attention to the movie but her focus kept being disrupted every time she'd notice Antonio staring at her. Every time she'd nod at him with a questioning look, he would say something corny about her being more interesting to watch than the movie.

"Can you please watch the movie?" She set her cup down in the holder or her armrest, holding back a vexed sigh.

He smiled sweetly at her, interpreting her annoyance for shyness. "You're so pretty. I can't waste a minute not looking at you."

She fought against an eye-roll and swallowed down the barf that was making its way up her throat.

"Thanks. But seriously, this is a good movie. You should watch it." She turned her attention back to the bright screen but could still see him gawking obnoxiously through the corner of her eye.

"Hey..." he whispered, veering her focus once again. "Have you never been on a movie date before?"

Her bashfulness kicked in as she shook her head. "This... um... this is my first date ever, actually." She regretted the admission as soon as it came out of her mouth.

His face went slack before a smirk reappeared. "That explains so much."

She quirked a curious brow.

"Couples on movie dates don't actually come to the movies to watch movies."

Her brow arched impossibly higher, making him chuckle.

"You're so cute." He held up his tub of popcorn to offer her some but she shook her head.

"I don't like popcorn. But thanks."

"What?" He tilted his head incredulous. "Who doesn't like popcorn?"

"Uh, me. I just said it," she replied irately.
