The inviting aroma of cotton candy and popcorn was so heavy one could almost taste it from the ticket line, prompting everyone's appetite. The excited screams from people on the rides and the lively music from all the various game booths could be heard all over. The colorful lights from all the rides and the strings of bulbs zig-zagging across the food booths were the next best thing to Christmas, emitting a very merry vibe.

"I'm really glad you decided to come," Andrea told David once Inez and Enrique had split to head to the Ferris wheel soon after entering the park. "I thought you were mad at me about the whole incident with the office."

He looked over at her and shook his apologetically. "I was never mad at you. It obviously wasn't your fault. I was just really upset in general."

She raised her cotton candy, offering him to take a bite. As he sunk his teeth into it, she was pushed aside by a couple of hyper kids chasing each other across the park.

David wrapped his arm across her shoulders, pulling her into him. "Am I gonna have to hold you the whole time so your clumsy ass doesn't fall on me again?"

Andrea smiled at him bashfully, still embarrassed she had tripped over nothing but the air that other day. "I mean, I really don't mind if you do," she dared herself to say, even though she coyly looked down right away to nibble at her cotton candy.

To her surprise, he responded with a chuckle and squeezed her in closer.

They wandered along that way, turning their heads at the booths they'd cross, until one of the prizes hanging from a specific game booth caught Andrea's undivided attention. "Oh my god! Please tell me you're good at basketball!"

"Only reason I'm not on a team is because I have more fun watching it than playing."

Andrea narrowed her eyes at him with a smile. "Sounds like something that someone who sucks would say."

"Oh really?" He scoffed. "I'll show you." He grabbed her hand and took the lead as he pulled her towards the basketball booth.

"I want that stoned monkey." Andrea pointed to the top rack of stuffed animals where a large brown monkey with black dreads and a Jamaican-colored hat hung.
