"Yes, I've made mistakes.
Life didn't come with instructions."

"We're too early," David called out as soon as Eva parked in front of the café the next afternoon.

She glanced at the time on the dashboard that read 1 PM on the dot. "You're just nervous," she said, regretting it right away, knowing that pointing it out would only spike his anxiety.

"No, I just don't know what I'm doing here." He tapped his fingers over the gear stick, his hand as ready as ever to push it to R and reverse out of there. Except he couldn't, because he was in the passenger seat. And that was the moment he realized why Eva had offered to drive for him. She must have known from the start that he would have turned his car back around halfway through, had he been in control of the wheel.

"You're here to forgive and be the bigger person," she reminded him with her most soothing tone, desperately wishing she could carry all his nerves for him so that all he had to worry about was his purpose. "To move on from this stage of your life that filled you with anger and sadness."

They sat there a couple more minutes as he pulled in a few deep breaths, readying himself for an encounter that should have happened 18 years ago.

He looked to his side at Eva who was patiently waiting, letting him take all the time he needed to muster up the courage. He had never appreciated more than he did now. Her mere presence always gave him that extra push he needed to tackle his obstacles because he knew that no matter how miserably he failed, she would always be there. Simply standing by him while everyone else hated him over the whole Daphne and Eduardo situation was proof enough that Eva was unconditionally loyal to him.

He knew that if things went south in there with Guillermo, no matter who was in the wrong, she was the best person to find a way to mediate and take his side without missing a beat.

"Okay. Let's do this." He finally opened his door to get out.

Eva followed his lead, stepping out as well and walked around to join him as they headed to the entrance. The closer they got to it, she suddenly began to feel nervous herself, which is why she wasn't at all surprised when his legs stopped working a few feet away from the door.
