"Real poetry, is watching you wake in the morning with your disheveled hair and your drowsy gaze."
Daphne sat out on her front porch, taking in the fresh air, while her parents tended to their special guest, Jessica, with some morning coffee, being that it was already 4 am by the time they left the station.
She had been scolded the whole drive home for lying about her plans that night and for costing them perfectly avoidable bail money. Olivia pointed out that if it hadn't been for her nagging Nick to go bail her out, he would have left her there all night to teach her a lesson. Daphne apologized and swore it would never happen again, and to her surprise, that was the end of it. She expected to get grounded or yelled at some more, but it seemed their shocking encounter with Jessica had pacified them enough to kind of brush it off.
Jessica had also gone off on Eduardo on the way. He even took full responsibility for the party, keeping Inez's name out of it, but not without shooting her a glare that spoke volumes about how much she owed him for it.
Once they were all at the Smith's house, they could not shut up about how unbelievably small the world was. They caught each other up on life and explained everything to the three confused teens. It was then that Daphne learned her mom was right about the name of the boy that had given her the jewelry box and Eduardo learned that his 8th-grade medal had indeed been dedicated to this same Daphne.
Overwhelmed by all the information and the night she'd gone through, the soft breeze was truly refreshing. Eduardo joined her on the stoop minutes later and she felt some of that released tension spring right back into her, as they hadn't spoken since their abrupt breakup.
"So we go way back..." he muttered, cautiously breaking the ice.
"Apparently."
"Crazy, isn't it? The way destiny brought us back together after so long. Like it was... meant to be..."
Daphne didn't look his way nor respond.
"Daphne I—"
"Thought you said you weren't going to speak to me anymore," she reminded him.
