David had his arm around Sofia, rubbing her shoulder consolingly as she sat with him on his front lawn. She had refused to go inside in fear that she would alarm his mom with her crying.
"She came home thirty fucking minutes late from work and he went insane! Meanwhile, he comes home at whatever time he fucking pleases and my mom just takes it! Tell me that shit ain't fucked up?" Sofia wiped at her face with the back of her hand, sniffling in her runny boogers.
She tried to stop thinking about the moment her dad's hand struck against her mom's cheek. However, even when she managed to block the images, she could still vividly hear the sound of his rough palm clashing with her soft skin and the loud cry that followed from her defenseless mom's throat.
"Super fucked up," David replied, unsure of what the right words to say were.
Just then, Eduardo pulled up behind David's car in the driveway. Sofia wiped at her face again as Eduardo marched towards them. Her arms fell around him as soon as he slumped down on the other side of her.
David watched as Eduardo consoled her and apologized for missing all her calls. He tried not to scoff at his friend's lies, knowing damn well that Eduardo really hadn't answered because he was too busy on his date with Daphne and her bug-eyed glasses and floppy hat.
Of course, Eduardo was completely unaware that Daphne had been confiding in David the while time.
David couldn't believe Eduardo had been cheating on Sofia and he was a bit annoyed that he hadn't kept his word to back off of Daphne. He wanted to confront Eduardo about it so bad, but doing so would give Daphne's identity away.
And of course, David was oblivious to the fact that Eduardo already knew the girl under the disguise was Daphne.
Eventually, Eduardo took her back to his place and was just barely able to sneak her in. The piano was heard upstairs, indicating that Inez was well distracted in her room. There was motion heard from the kitchen, suggesting that Jessica was in there.
