Yolanda was getting ready for work when she heard the doorbell. She did her best to appear unfazed by the sight of Jorge on the stoop, though she knew he was angry when he lifted the divorce petition she had sent for him.
"Are you fucking kidding me?"
"I told you I want a divorce," she reminded him, confused by his surprise.
A quiet chuckle escaped him as his lips curved into a malevolent smirk.
Looking behind him and noting that Yolanda's car was the only one in the driveway, he pushed himself inside knowing she was alone.
"Jorge—" she tried to shout but his hands gripped her neck as he pinned her against the wall.
"I let you say whatever the fuck you said to me last time we spoke because I could understand you were upset about what happened with your stupid brat. But you are insane if you think you can just say never mind and get rid of me after you tricked me into spending 17 fucking years by your side!"
Yolanda could only breathe in his grasp if she stopped fighting against it.
"That's not how this going to work, pendeja. You used me all these fucking years and now you wanna call it quits because why? Because I've been lashing out? Don't you think I deserve to be angry for what you did?!"
"Lashing out? Jorge, you forced one of your friends onto our daughter! That's not lashing out!—"
"Your daughter!"
"Biologically, yes. But you've been there with us since she was born. You watched her grow up. She's been your daughter too even if not by blood!"
He scoffed. "You know damn well I never felt anything for the little bitch. For a long time, I thought there was something wrong with me when the only thing I felt for her was a fucking hard-on every time she walked by in her skanky little cheer uniform. When all I could see was a younger version of the bitch I knocked up. One without the disgusting stretch marks or the sagging tits."
