She began to take a step forward, ready to go yank her off Eduardo by her hair but David grasped her arm to stop her. He turned her around and quietly dragged her back inside where he told her, "Don't make a scene. Not at Inez's party."

"Well, I can't just fucking stand there watching them and do nothing!" She croaked as the tears kept rolling down her cheeks.

"You don't have to. I know you're hurt and angry right now but let me handle it. You just stay here and try to relax. Please?" He ran his thumbs across her wet cheeks.

Sofia petulantly pushed his hands away to wipe her face herself. "You knew about this, didn't you?! Of course you did! You've been covering for him all this time. Probably applauding him for juggling two girls at a time. It's no wonder you two are best friends. You're both fucking assholes!" She shoved him weakly before storming away. . . . .

David was taken back to that moment as he found himself stuck in a similar situation starring the same guy and the same two girls whose positions were switched this time.

"She wasn't lying," Daphne kept murmuring beneath her sobs while David did his best to corner her in attempt to shield her drenched face from the oblivious people around them. "She told me he'd been trying to get at her and I thought she was just saying it to be an asshole. But she wasn't.

Rubbing her shoulders and telling her to calm down wasn't working the slightest, so he turned his head back in desperation and beckoned Eva for help.

"What the hell happened?" Eva quickly began to feel abashed at herself for initially assuming the two were just there selfishly canoodling.

"He's trying to get her back!" Daphne cried hideously, sniffling her runny nose.

"Lalo's outside singing to Sofia, talking about wanting her back," David elaborated when Eva just looked back and forth at them with confusion.

That being said, Eva sighed out tediously and pulled Daphne into a hug. "Come on, stop crying over bullshit that's never gonna happen. Sofia is surprisingly head-over-heels with Richard and Lalo is just hurt as fuck saying shit he doesn't mean but thinks he does. He's a confused mess. He doesn't know what he wants. He just knows he's scared of not knowing what he wants... so he does dumb shit like trying to rewind to a time that was all good."

The fact that she was unintentionally implying Eduardo had it all good with no one other than Sofia, didn't help Daphne feel any better, but somehow, the other stuff she had said before did manage to gradually placate her.

"He's been a great friend to me and I appreciate him for it, but I must say he doesn't handle stress very well and I know for a fact that breaking up with you has been the most stressful thing he's ever had to do. More stressful than math."

Daphne couldn't help but laugh at that as she wiped her tears away.

David stared down at Eva admirably as she continued to talk Daphne out of crying and making a fool of herself. Once again, he had never felt more thankful for having someone like her around to help him when he needed it most.

"He wrote her a letter," Daphne said, now more collectedly than a minute ago. "I have to know what it says. Maybe it'll help me understand what's going on in his head. Maybe it'll let me know if I still have any chance with him. Or maybe, it could be my motivation to move on." She shrugged. "I don't know, I just need some answers."

Eva nodded agreeably. "Yea, but how?"

"I need to go to his house," she determined. "Now."
