"Couldn't even see you through the smoke,
Looking back,
I probably should have known.
You loved me with your worst intentions,
painted us a happy ending.
Every time you burned me down,
don't know how for a moment it felt like heaven."-Hailee Steinfeld, Wrong Direction
The following day in class, Inez had gotten paired up with Johnny to work on an assignment together but he was doing most of it while she texted away with Enrique.
Enrique: So it's my birthday Saturday 😌
Inez: wow really?
18 right?Enrique: Yup.
What are you getting me?Inez: idk lol
what do u want?Enrique: I doubt you'll give me what I really want... lol
Inez: You gave me what I wanted so it's only fair
Enrique: Hmm, in that case, I want...
Inez: 🤔....?
Enrique: You to jump out of a cake 😉😉
Inez chuckled out loud as she reread it, not really understanding what he meant.
"I wanna laugh too," Johnny said as he mindlessly peeked over at her phone assuming there was a meme or something.
"Oh, nothing... it's just that my friend's birthday is this week, and when I asked what he wanted me to give him, he said he wants me to jump out of a cake... but I don't get it."
Johnny laughed a little, getting it right away. "He wants you to be his stripper."
"What the hell? How'd you get that from cake?"
"Ay, Inez. You're so innocent. When a stripper is hired for a guy's birthday, she sometimes comes in a big fake cake and pops out of it."
"Oh." Inez arched a brow at him. "And you know this how?"
