With her arms and legs restrained beneath Emilio's weight and his mouth glued to her cleavage, Sofia turned her face away from the repulsing sight. She was exhausted and out of breath from all the helpless screaming but too disgusted to accept defeat. When her eyes met her backpack on the floor leaning against her dresser, a surge of hope restored her urge to keep fighting.

She lied still beneath him, deciding not to exert useless energy until the perfect moment. That time came when he finally released her wrists to sit up on his knees and reach for the waistband of her sweatpants. Before he could tug them down, she launched her fist to his nose as hard as she could.

The unexpected punch managed to distract him from his purpose. As he brought his hands to his aching nose, she wriggled her way out from under him and jolted off the bed to run to her backpack.

"You fucking brat!" She heard him grumble as he began to follow after her.

Sofia unzipped the small outer pouch with one quick tug and pulled out the can of pepper spray just in time to shower Emilio's face with it when he crouched down to try and seize her again.

He pinched his eyes shut as he groaned and fell back. A wave of relief rushed through her and her chest heaved as she tried to catch her breath just enough to pick herself up, grab her phone from the bed, and run out the door.

She figured her dad must've assumed she was well under Emilio's restraint since he wasn't securing the door shut anymore. However, Emilio's anguished groans seemed to have fetched his attention because as she got near the end of the hallway, Jorge came into her view, heading back towards her room.

She initially flinched at the sight of him but quickly lifted the hand gripping the pepper spray and spattered a generous amount across his face. She wasted no time to push past him while he wailed and scrubbed his eyes with his hands.

Her legs slowed down as she fled down the street and she could feel her entire body quiver as she came to a full stop at the corner. Her heart pounded against her hand as she leaned against a light post gasping for air. She looked around the dark street, unsure of where to go from there.
