The football field was loud that next night. Cheerleaders were chanting and dancing, football players were scoring, and the bleachers were filled with screaming teenagers. David and Eduardo were so into the game, they were shouting and high-fiving each other every time their school made points.

David would occasionally stop to explain the game to Daphne since she didn't really understand the rules of football, nor had she ever been to a football game.

At times, Eduardo would glance down at Sofia, who was with her squad cheering through every score. Watching her dance gave him a flashback to when she had first tried out for the team. . . . .

Eduardo picked Sofia up from the floor. She had a face full of tears and rivers of mascara running down her cheeks, looking like such a fragile little 14-year-old with a broken heart.

"Come on Sofie, you have a tryout to go to. Please don't cry anymore. He's literally not worth it."

Sofia continued to sob in his chest, "No Lalo, you don't get it. I don't feel like dancing, I don't feel like smiling, I just want to cry and cry and cry until I finally run out of tears...he fucking lied to me! David said he loved me, but he cheated on me! And I gave him everything! Everything!"

Eduardo nodded. "I know, he's a jerk and it's good to cry. Let it all out. But you can't let your dream pass you by because of some moron that doesn't deserve it. Please go to the tryouts. For you...for me?"

After finally convincing her, she went to the locker room and changed.

Eduardo sat on the gym's bleachers to be there for support whenever it was her turn to try-out. She ambled over to position slowly and depressingly when the judges called her name. Eduardo frowned and looked down, already anticipating she wasn't going to give it her best effort.

But then the music started and she began to dance as if nothing was wrong. The vibrant Sofia he knew as back and she smiled the whole time. It was as if dancing was her temporary medicine. She looked so happy; the complete opposite from before the music had started. He was impressed by her talent and how well she was hiding her true feelings.
