"When you stop fighting
you stop living.
We all need that thing
worth fighting for.
Maybe it's a certain someone
or a special place.
Maybe just an idea.
So find your fight
and fight like hell
until your battle is won."
-Brooke Davis"Shit," Sofia murmured under her breath when Juan pulled up in front of her house to drop her off. Her heart hammered frantically against her ribcage at the sight of Richard casually smoking a cigarette on the hood of his car, his brooding gaze honing on hers through the windshield before she broke contact to look at Juan. "Um... this was fun, thanks. Uh, I'll see you around," she told him with a few stutters here and there.
"Are you gonna be okay?" he asked as her tremorous hand reached for the door handle. "Should I stay?"
"No!" she exclaimed quickly, knowing right away that would be the worst thing he could do. "I'll be fine," she promised and began to step out.
She wasn't quite sure why she was so nervous. Maybe it was because she hadn't expected to run into him this way, coming out of another guy's car at the end of the night. Maybe it was because she had been dying to see him for the past two days that she didn't even know what to do with herself now that she finally had him there in front of her. Or maybe it was the way his temples dipped as he clenched his teeth, wordlessly letting her know that he was not happy to see her hanging out with someone else.
He put his cigarette out as she made her way towards him. However, instead of following her, his eyes remained fixed on the car she'd just come out of.
"What are you doing here?" she croaked.
He still wouldn't look at her, so she turned her head to Juan and gave him a reassuring nod, and it wasn't until he drove away, that Richard finally acknowledged her and climbed off the hood to stand before her. "Who the fuck was that?"
"A friend," she replied feebly, her heart still going amok.
"Where'd you guys go?"
She exhaled deeply. "What are you doing here, Richard?"
