"This world is full of empty people."
Eduardo had just changed into some sweats and a t-shirt after a shower, when he checked his phone and found a missed call from Daphne. He stared at the notification, debating whether to call her back or not. He figured it had to be important if she had specifically called instead of sending a text and worried it could have anything to do with his baby, so he pressed on her name to return the call.
"Hey, you called?"
"I can't believe you knew Sofia is my sister and didn't tell me!" Daphne shouted furiously. It had been a huge blow to her chest when Nick told her that he and Jessica were the only other people that knew about it. "How could you keep something like that from me?!"
Eduardo sighed out regretfully, wishing he hadn't bothered to call her back but it didn't stop his spite from brewing. "Oh, my bad, you thought you were the only one allowed to have secrets?"
"What secrets?! I didn't have any secrets! Stop thinking I was dating David behind your back because I wasn't!"
"But you were driving around with him behind my back, risking my baby's life. That's not a secret?"
She rolled her eyes in frustration. "So, what? Now you're trying to get back at me? Grow the hell up!"
"After you, dear," he spat back sarcastically. "What do you want me to do about it now? What's done is done. At least you know about it now, so stop wasting my time with your personal shit. I told you to reach out only when you have something to say about my kid. The only other exception is sex. Other than that, go talk to David or Juan or whoever else you got. I don't care."
"Fuck you!" Daphne gripped her phone in anger, tears beginning to brim her eyes after hearing him imply she could only serve him for sex. "You are a fucking assho—"
Eduardo pulled the phone off his ear and hung up to let her keep talking to herself. He threw his back on the bed as his mind replayed her betrayal, still as vivid as if it were yesterday.
