"Your name is the strongest
positive and negative connotation.
It either lights me up
or leaves me aching for days."It was another school morning in which Inez trudged lazily through the halls with Sofia, wishing she could still be lying under her cozy comforter. "You're so lucky you're already a senior. You get to leave soon and I'll be stuck here another two years."
Sofia nodded but her phone started ringing before she could say anything.
"Amor, something came up. I won't be at school today," Richard informed her once she answered his call.
"What?! Are you crazy?!"
Inez's curiosity piqued as she motioned her eyes to ask Sofia why she was flipping out.
"You've literally been to school once since it started back up. Once!" Sofia scolded, ignoring Inez and every nosy passerby that turned his or her head to her.
"Oh shit! My bad, mom. I thought I called Sofia," Richard replied sardonically.
Sofia took a second to fix her tone as she realized how she was coming across. "Baby, I'm just worried all these absences are going to hold you back from graduating."
Richard rolled his eyes hard, comfortable with the fact that she couldn't see it. "Don't worry about that, mija. I got a few deliveries to do. You know, at the end of the day, what's in my wallet matters more than wearing that hideous robe shit."
"I don't know, I actually think you'll look sexy in a cap and gown," she said simply, refraining from telling him that a diploma could dictate how much he'd have in his wallet in the future.
He only laughed at that. "Anyways, I was gonna ask if I can go pick you up."
"You mean right now?"
"Yes, now."
"Really? You're actually gonna take me with you this time?" She lifted a dubious brow because he always refused to let her tag along with him during his "sales".
