"Someday everything will make perfect sense.
So for now, laugh at the confusion,
smile through the tears,
be strong and keep reminding yourself
that everything happens for a reason."-John Mayer
The music was ricocheting from wall to wall in the underground rave Andrea was following Enrique through. Her hips swayed and her arms pumped to the beat until they arrived at the spot Inez had told him she was at with her brother, who was only there to "babysit" or else Inez wasn't allowed to be there.
However, the sight of David standing next to Eduardo was the unexpected turn of the night. Her smile was automatically directed towards him, disregarding the ones beside him. "You came out of your cave!" she stepped up to yell towards his ear while Enrique greeted Inez and Eduardo.
David chuckled as he thought back for a quick second about how this had been the last place he imagined himself ending up that night. When Eduardo texted to invite him earlier that day, he appreciated the fact that he was suggesting to do normal, best friend, teenager things, instead of broaching the embarrassing subject of the drunk he had been over the past couple of days. His mom, however, held a different perspective.
"Party? Isn't there alcohol at parties?" Rocio questioned with a hard edge to her face, just after wiping the last tear that had resulted from the half-hour apology David had sat her down for.
Even after reassuring and promising his mom that he wouldn't drink, it understandably took him some time to convince her that going out with his friends was a better idea than him staying in to deal with his depression alone. Even as the time came closer, he was beginning to second-doubt himself on account of the reminder that the last time he had been to a rave was with Eva, who had gone to "babysit" Inez.
When he had caught himself beginning to type up an excuse not to go, his mind led him back to what Andrea had told him. All that stuff about resuming his life and not letting it waste away moping about things that were beyond his control.
