With arms crossed, Eva took speedy steps through the dark neighborhood and gave out a frightened gasp as someone grabbed her arm. Turning around to the sight of him made her draw out a sigh of relief and annoyance at the same time.

David observed the tears in her eyes and shook his head. "You can't leave."

"My mom is waiting for me." She continued down the sidewalk.

He followed only to stop her again. "I meant to Spain."

"Says who?"

"Me! And you! You promised you wouldn't!"

"Well, I changed my mind. You've been selfish all your life and now it's my turn."

She attempted to go on with her path but David grabbed her once more.

"Eva, I'm sorry. I really am. I mean it."

"That's not enough anymore."

"So how can I prove it?"

"You can't.

"Come on, Eva. I love you. You're my best friend. We fight, we make up, but we don't leave each other. That's not how it works, SpongeBob."

She dropped her head, trying to contain the incoming tears.

"I ruined my friendship with Lalo but I won't ruin ours. And I won't let you do it either," he asserted, tilting her chin back up to his sincere gaze.

Eva nodded in understanding. "Because you see that I'm all you have left. You're only worried about being alone."

"No, it's not like that. It's because you mean more to me than anyone else," he corrected her.

"What about Daphne?"

"That's different."

She tried to turn her head away and stare off into space as she gave it some thought but he wouldn't let her. His fingers held her chin in place so that all she could see were his sweet begging eyes.
