"The most confused we ever get,
is when we're trying to convince our head of something our heart knows is a lie."

Daphne began to blow dry her hair after slipping into a pair of sky blue jeggings, a Tuscany yellow V-neck with a knot-front neckline and elbow-length sleeves, and white flats. Her brown hair gradually grew lighter the drier it became and she picked up her curling iron to coil the ends. Her makeup was light and natural, taking no more than ten minutes to apply.

Once she heard a knock downstairs, she knew it had to be Eduardo. She took another quick look at herself in the mirror before scurrying down to where Nick and Olivia were already welcoming him inside.

Eduardo was wearing dark jeans with a casual burgundy short-sleeve button-up. He'd refrained from the gel on his head this time, letting his rebellious curls loose.

Just as she began to head out with him, Nick grabbed her arm to hold her back as Eduardo went ahead to his car. "If he tells you the seats all the way in the back are the best, he's up to no good and you'd better call me right away to pick you up," Nick warned her.

Daphne chuckled as she continued to pretend that they had plans to go to the movie theater. "Will do, dad."

He let her go and watched as she eagerly jumped into his car before they drove off.

They made it to Eduardo's house in ten minutes but the party hadn't started yet. It was still too early, so they went up to hang out in his room in the meantime.

Daphne wandered around his room, looking at his things while he made a few phone calls to invite certain classmates and teammates.

Over his dresser, he had a couple colognes that she took a whiff of. Beside that, he had a cork board hanging, full of pictures. Nearly all of them included Sofia, to her disgrace, reminding her that her boyfriend had just slept with what she considered to be the most beautiful girl in school.

He had a body-length mirror nailed to his wall, and on the sides of it, he had some medals hanging down. She took a closer look at them to read their motives.
