As someone who lives in Florida, and has access to Publix's, I believe in Publix supremacy 💖

When Dream started to work at Publix, he was more than excited.

He figured it would be just a summer job before his senior year, saving up money for gas, friend hangouts, and other expenses.

But he continued to work during his last year of high school, figuring he might as well, since school wasn't the hardest thing in the world for him. Plus he had smart friends, so even if he needed the extra help, he'd get it.

When he first started working at Publix he had to go and get all the carts, cleaning bathrooms, and such. But as he continued to work there, eventually he became a cashier.

~~~
Dream had come in slightly early for his afternoon shift, coming in to get a sandwich before he started working.
He paid for his sub, tea and chips, eating and drinking in the break room, somewhat fast so he could clock in.
Once he finished everything, he made sure he had his name tag on, then went over to his usual cash register.
The day had been somewhat slow, since the high schools in the area let out about 45 minutes ago, there was still a lot of people on the ride home, plus most adults were still at work.
After checking out maybe 5 people, he saw someone enter the store out of the corner of his eye.
The shorter brunet held a lined piece of paper in his hand, filled with bullet points and neat hand writing, his mother's long grocery list.
Dream watched as the brunet grabbed a small green basket, making his way around the store, going into an isle, and dipping out of the blonds vision.
Dream prayed that the other would go into his line to be checked out, so he could talk to the cute brown-eyed boy.
The blond continued to do his job, helping other customers, especially now since more adults were leaving work and heading to the store for dinner items and such.
One of the other cashiers had called in sick, so Dream was taking there shift, which also ment one less cashier. Which made the blond happy because that gave him a higher chance of getting to help check out the brunet, and hopefully talk to them.
Another 45 minutes later and a stressed looking male entered Dreams checkout isle, holding an over flowing basket and a few items in both hands.
"Wow, you definitely overestimated how much that basket can hold, huh?" the taller chuckled warmly, beginning to scan the items the other was placing down.
"Yea, I also got a few extra things" the other replied, still putting more items down on the small black conveyor belt.
"Why'd you need to get so much stuff?" Dream asked, just wanting to make conversation with the cute customer.
"I don't even know, my mum said something about guests at dinner? I have no clue who's she inviting, but I wanted to get out of the house so she made me get the groceries for tonight" the brunet explained, shrugging as he finished speaking.
"Hm, makes sense. The last time we had guests for dinner we had to buy so much food, I already have a lot of siblings and adding more people wasn't fun" they both laughed at the green-eyed boys statement as he continued scanning what was left.
"Wait, do you go to [redacted because I can't come up with a name] Highschool?" the brit asked.
"Yeah, why?" Dream asked.
"I think I've seen you around before, Dream correct?" the other questioned.
"Yea, it's also on my name tag" the taller laughed at the others face falling from a soft smile to an awkward look, an embarrassed blush growing on his face.
"Well, yea, but im just saying..." his voice trailed out, scratching his neck.
"Its fine, I get what you ment. Since you know my name, can I know yours?" Dream spoke slyly, glad with this transition.
"Oh, yeah, I'm George" he answered, grabbing some of the bags that were full, waiting on the last few items.
"Well, I wish you luck at dinner, and I hope I get to see you around more often at school" the blonds smile was kind and confident, he finished scanning what was left, putting them into the plastic bags and telling the other the price.
George paid with a soft blush on his face, more flustered than embarrassed, as he watched with a puzzled expression as Drean grabbed the receipt (I had to look it up and make sure I spelt it right 😔) and a pen, watching as he began writing something on it.
The Floridain handed the receipt over, the same kind smile on his face as he watched the others face flush even more at the 10 digit phone number written at the bottom,  as well as a small smiley face drawn next to it.
George said a soft "thanks" and smiled back, folding the receipt and sliding it into his back pocket as he made his way out of the store to his car in the parking lot.
He was very excited to text that number. Well, once he figured out what to say.
