The sand was cold, the wind was freezing, and his black hoodie only did so much to keep his body heat in.
The waves were loud from how close he sat to the ocean, seated on the sand about 10 feet away from the water.
He raised his right hand to his mouth, taking a long drag from his joint, and exhaling the smoke. Smoking always made him feel fuzzy, not so anxious, and just overall like he could sit still, just float on the feeling of the warmth that sat in his chest and lightheadednes in his mind.
The consistent sounds of waves lapping over eachother, biting at the sand and receding felt therapeutic, seated with his knees up resting back on his hands, staring out at the moon that lay high in the sky.
Recently, he hadn't felt this anxious since highschool, seated in his classes surrounded by too many people with too many expectations. Online classes had obviously helped out a lot, but expectations always seem to stick around.
Now that George has moved in with him and Sapnap, he had felt so restricted in his own home. It wasn't even the brunets fault, which made him feel even worse because he knew he was avoiding George, but his feelings pushed him in a corner. Well, in his case, pushed him to sit on the beach alone, and smoke.
He hadn't told either of his friends where he was going, leaving a little after both boys had announced they were going to bed and once all the lights were out, he figured that would be a good time to go.
His keys jingled together when his shaky hands put them in the ignition, playing music even though his racing thoughts wouldn't let him focus on the words or beat.
So here he was, now able to focus intently on the sounds of waves, the sounds of palm trees swaying in the
wind, and the quiet music playing from his phone speaker.
He took another inhale, exhaling and watching the smoke disperse infront of him. The first couple hits he took, he coughed profusely, the burn still in his throat, mouth dry. But now the physical feelings didn't really matter, he'd just drink some water when he got home.
He moved his legs so he was sitting criss cross, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees, one hand laying out infront of him holding the joint, with the other hand holding his head up.
The blond couldn't help but think the ocean was dark and terrifying, but Dream had come here to escape the terrified thoughts he had. Ironic.
He knew he needed to work through his emotions, he had already gone through the hard part, mostly because of Sapnap. Before the Texan moved in, he struggled with a lot of internalize homophobia, but the raven-haired male had been totally understanding and worked him through it.
It had been going really good for a while, about a year had passed before the worries settled back in.
When George moved in.
After running up to that specific brunet, tackling him into a hug so tight that George could barely breath, was the first time he felt like his whole body was on fire.
He felt like he was sparking and crackling like a flame, face always warm with blush and insides twisting with anxiety and a feeling he felt he now understood.
Love.
But he doesn't want to think about that now. That's why he's looking out at the ocean and contemplating how bad it would be to just take a nap on the cold sand, star gazing before passing out.
