The Beginning - Prologue

Prologue: 

It was currently the year 2090, and the fate of humanity had just changed drastically overnight with the flick of a hand. 

A meteor about half the size as the first one that killed the dinosaurs crashed down on earth, killing off everyone in the near vicinity. 

The impact sight was near eastern Russia, but if the impact was not the thing that killed everyone on earth, it was what came afterwards that changed humanity forever. 

A viral mutation that had been carried on the meteor caused humans to begin mutation into different creatures. 

It was unclear as to what caused certain citizens to mutate into certain creatures, some taking the forms of random object-headed people, while others took on the forms of different animals. Some of these more common animals included felines, canines, sea creatures, the cloven hooves, insects, and birds. Others took on the forms of creatures that have come to be known as Elementimps, beings that had the ability to harness the power of certain elements for no particular reason. 

Skeletons who were left without skin and muscle from the initial impact began to reanimate as though they were living and breathing once more. Those left as shadowy patches of ash came to become Shadows, beings that still looked human, but were completely made of shadows. 

For some reason, some were even mutated into dinosaurs, as though the meteor had decided to bring back the prehistoric creatures that once ruled the earth. 

There were some who were more lucky, only gaining a fraction of what mutation powers the meteor had been carrying. These individuals had come to be known as ‘Wiches’ due to them retaining their human-like forms, but had gained the ability to harness some of the same powers as Elementimps. These Witches have, eventually in the future, come to create some weapons with these elemental harnessing powers depending on the wielder. 

Similar to the witches, who retained more of their human bodies, there were those known as Monochromes or Neons. Monochromes had their entire bodies drained of all colors as though they were straight out of a black and white film, whereas Neons had a faded greyish color skin tone with bright neon hair and hollow black eyes with white pupils.

Animals around the globe had also been affected by this viral mutation, some being fused together depending on their close vicinity, thus creating hybrid animals. 

Years have passed, since the meteor hit, and civilizations had eventually managed to rebuild closer to the year 2200. The first initial shock finally died down after the year 2150, and denizens, as they had come to be called, decided that their best chance of survival after the impact was to work together and rebuild what they lost, so that’s exactly what they did. 

Now, in the year 2550, we follow the story of one of these denizens, and her life in a new world similar to what life was once before the meteor, only instead of humans, there are now denizens.
