Father's Instinct (Story 13 - Part 3)

With Venno: 

The Velociraptor was silently standing aside, her brother and sister beside her, the three siblings watching as Queen Pin and Thorn, their parents, continued to argue with one another. 

They had no idea how this all escalated into an argument in the first place so quickly, but it had.

One moment Thorn was trying to get Queen Pin to listen to reason, the next they were literally shouting at one another.  

Venno quickly checked the time on the nearby wall clock, frowning when she saw that it had only been a few minutes since she had spoken to Jerry. 

Venno knew that the older Spider preferred walking rather than taking a vehicle, but with his leg injury, he was unable to walk faster than a casual stroll.

The Cheetah was still tied up, glancing back and forth between the Skeletal Viking and Voodoo Doll, trying to make sense of what was going on considering he was unwillingly tied up and forced to wait for Jerry to pick him up. 

“Listen, why not just let me go for now, and then come looking for me again. And maybe don’t let your siblings get a hold of a car and drive into me this time” said the Cheetah, smirking as he chuckled nervously. 

Venno just glared down at him, the Velociraptor annoyed that her parents were arguing. 

“Nice try, buddy. You’re waiting for my boss to come pick you up. You have other things to worry about than this, like how you’ll be questioned before getting handed over to the person who put a bounty on you” said Venno, making sure to speak silently as she crouched down and glared into the Cheetah’s eyes. 

The Cheetah gulped in fright before nodding in understanding, paralyzed in fear.

Venno stood back up, the Velociraptor rolling her eyes, always forgetting that she had a paralysing glare that she could sometimes use but chooses not to.  

Venno returned her attention back to the argument between her parents, the two appearing to still be going on about something. 

“And then you decided to leave me and never contact me to let me know you were at least fine! Who the fuck does that!?” exclaimed Queen Pin, her fists clenched and both Stella and Karlson came out of the crow pendant and seemed to let out a low purred growl. 

“I only left you because I was ashamed of my own behavior towards you and the kids!” exclaimed Thorn as his Thunder Falcon nodded in agreement, vouching for his owner.

Queen Pin scoffed and rolled her eyes, her arms crossed. 

“Well you should have shut up about wanting to beat the shit out of Venno’s ex almost every fucking day! You were always getting drunk and talking shit about how it was that Python's fault for driving our family apart” said Queen Pin angrily, her clenching tighter. 

Venno decided to step in, wanting to get both of her parents to stop arguing. 

“Mom, dad, maybe you should both calm down and not argue in front of my bounty. My boss is coming to pick him up, so you can both feel free to argue all you want afterwards” said Venno, stepping between the two with a scowl, her tail whipping from side to side. 

Queen Pin glanced away as Thorn crossed his arms. 

“You’re a Bounty Hunter, now? When did that happen? I knew something was up when my Thunder Falcon here showed me an image of you with four other denizens” said Thorn, one of his eye sockets raising as though he were raising an eyebrow in question. 

Venno nodded, the Velociraptor smiling proudly. 

“That’s right. I’m one of the BHA’s top hunters, and one of two candidates in line for becoming the next CEO” said Venno.
