Brother's Rage (Story 8 - Part 4)

With Venno: 

The Velociraptor was sitting in the viewing room with Jerry once again, listening as her brother told the Bounty Interrogator what really happened at the casino, before having blacked out. 

“So my sisters believe that maybe one of the mints that my body absorbed accidentally may have been laced with something before I blacked out shortly after” concluded Rad, looking down at the table, not wanting to meet the Falcon’s eyes. 

The Falcon nodded, writing down what Rad had said before standing up from his seat and walking into the viewing room. 

“What do you think, Mr.Rifele?” asked the Falcon, handing the clipboard over to the Spider. 

Jerry took a slow puff from his cigarette as he read through what was written before handing the clipboard back to the Falcon. 

“I’ll have to think about it, since he is Venno’s younger brother. Keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn’t leave that room. Hopefully, if he is telling the truth about being drugged, whatever was in his system is now gone” said Jerry, standing up and walking out of the viewing room. 

Venno quickly stood up and followed Jerry out, hoping that the older Spider would let her brother go instead of handing him over to the two casino owners. 

“Boss, I know this may be hard to believe since it’s only a theory, but I think that what really happened is true” said Venno, worried about what Jerry would do. 

Jerry stopped walking, taking a quick puff from his cigarette before sighing. 

“I know he’s your brother, but we were also tasked to find and catch the denizen who stole from that casino. I’m trying to look at it both ways. I don’t know what they would do to him when I hand him over, and I don’t know what they’ll do if I don’t. This is a bloody hard decision for me, especially since there’s no proof that any of the mints had been laced. He’s a Toxic Sludge, meaning his body can disintegrate evidence real quick” said Jerry, his two top arms crossed as his bottom two took out another cigarette from its box and lit it. 

“I know that, but you have to believe me when I say that our brother would NEVER do something like this” said Venno, watching as Jerry tossed the smaller cigarette into the nearby trash can, taking a puff from the one he just lit. 

“I understand, but I’m going to have to ask what they want before I can make my final decision. I may be the CEO of the BHA, but I also have to follow my own rules, too. Unless someone got their bounty accidentally or they weren’t the ones who did it, then I let them go. But considering your brother stole from the Grand Harpy Casino and Hotel, then there’s not much I can really do, even if he was allegedly under the influence of some sort of drug” said Jerry, sounding as stressed as Venno was. 

Venno sighed, hanging her head for a second before glancing back at the interrogation room her brother was currently sitting and waiting in. 

“I’m heading up to my office, and I’m going to call and tell them that you caught the actual thief. I’ll let you know what they want to do, considering they were the ones who posted the bounty. I’ll do what I can to see if I can convince them to drop the bounty on your brother, and maybe have an investigation start to see who was the real target for the drugging” said Jerry, patting Venno’s shoulder reassuringly. 

Venno nodded in understanding. 

“Alright, I’ll go wait down on the office floor” said Venno. 

With Jerry:

Jerry nodded, watching as Venno walked over to the elevator and heading down before sighing and shaking his head.
