Broken Hearts (Story 17 - Part 2)

With Venno: 

The Velociraptor and Anglerfish both landed on the roof of an apartment building, the two looking down at the large museum that was across the street. 

“So, that’s the museum of New Strip City” said Venno, the Velociraptor resting a hand on her hip as she tilted her head to the side. 

Dexx nodded, the Anglerfish demon humming in confirmation.

“That’s right. It’s a pretty big museum. Lucky for us, I heard that that bounty of ours likes to make grand entrances, meaning we’ll know exactly when he arrives” explained Dexx, the Anglerfish trying to recall when he heard about the bounty they were hunting. 

Venno frowned and nodded in understanding. 

The Velociraptor then smiled, her heart swelling with pride at the thought of Dexx actually making the cut without even realizing it.

Venno quickly shook her head and regained herself as Dexx glanced over at her. 

“Alright, what do you suppose we do?” asked Venno. 

Dexx hummed in thought as he returned his attention back down to the museum, the Anglerfish now thinking. 

“I prefer being silent and stealthy so nobody knows I was even there. It’s just more fun and challenging trying not to get caught. It’s also how my mom trained me to be” explained Dexx. 

Venno nodded in understanding once more as she returned her attention down to the museum. 

It was silent between the two as Dexx focused on thinking of a plan on how they could capture the bounty, but Venno was thinking about something else entirely. 

Despite the silence between the two, Venno was wondering if now was the right time to tell Dexx about what Jerry had said, about letting him use his skills for good by becoming a Bounty Hunter. 

Venno took a deep breath in and sighed, the Velociraptor about to tell Dexx this time around when the Anglerfish suddenly interrupted. 

“Let’s head inside. We can pretend to be tourists and walk around the jewelry exhibit. That’s where they’re more likely to feature the diamond along with a bunch of other gems. Too bad I won’t be able to take anything this time around” said Dexx the Anglerfish smiling as he pretended to sound disappointed at the mention of the last part. 

Venno couldn’t help but laugh, the Velociraptor happy to hear this. 

“That’s a pretty good idea. It’s something different from what I would normally do, but if you think it’ll work, then I’m more than happy to give it a try” said Venno, the Velociraptor more accustomed to hunting her bounties from the rooftops. 

Dexx nodded in agreement and understanding, the two jumping down from the rooftop together. 

Their jets activated and allowed the two to land gently on the ground, the two remaining side by side. 

“Alright, remember, we’re tourists visiting the museum” whispered Dexx as he and Venno crossed the street. 

Venno nodded, the Velociraptor then frowning. 

“Yes, we’re tourists, only I’m wearing my Bounty Hunter uniform and we both have our own backpacks. It’s not like we’re going to stand out in the middle of all the other visitors in the museum who actually look like tourists” said Venno, the Velociraptor crossing her arms. 

Dexx hummed in thought but shrugged, the Anglerfish unsure of what else to say. 

“Let’s just say we’re a couple who likes wearing dark clothes. As for the backpacks, we’ll think of something” said Dexx, the Anglerfish smiling casually as he wrapped an arm around Venno’s waist and pulled her close.
