The Mountain of Secrets (Story 12 - Part 1)

With Venno: 

The Velociraptor was sitting in her seat at the round table in the large meeting room, waiting for her boss to arrive with the new bounties. 

Barry was seated beside her, the Wolf Hound still mad about the fact that Venno had taken the dance club bounty instead of him. 

It had been a few days since she managed to take down the Bull and bring him in, having helped the owners take back their dance club. 

With the help of Dexx Angle, of course. 

Venno’s fists clenched as she frowned, the Velociraptor trying to hold back the blush she was feeling at the thought of the Anglerfish. 

Venno did know that Dexx made his feelings clear to her, that he had fallen in love with her at first sight. 

She just didn’t expect that he would have given her a kiss on the cheek before he left, having left her speechless and unsure of what to do. 

Venno’s blush then brightened, unable to hold it back as she tried to hide her face in her hands, hoping no one would notice when she recalled the bold move she herself had made beforehand, having literally thrown herself at him in an affectionate embrace after he saved her from whatever that creep had been about to do.

Then there was the fact that her little brother, Rad, had seen the two interact with one another and even went as far as calling Dexx her boyfriend. 

Venno knew that Rad wouldn’t leave her alone about it, especially now that he knew who Dexx was. 

She could only hope that Rad wouldn’t tell their mother about it, the Velociraptor having a feeling that Queen Pin would be a little too excited.

Even if Venno told her mother that Dexx was a bounty that only she could catch, the Voodoo Doll would still tell her to take the opportunity to fall in love again. 

Venno frowned, unsure of what to do, especially since her thoughts about Dexx had changed since they first met. 

Plus…was she really ready to move on to a whole new relationship with someone else? 

After the last relationship she was in ended horribly?

Venno jumped in fright at the sound of Barry clearing his throat, the Wolf Hound having noticed her behavior. 

“What do you want, Barry?” asked Venno, crossing her arms and glancing away. 

Barry shrugged, not looking at Venno, the two refusing to look at each other. 

“Nothing, just noticed that you were blushing and acting as if you were in love or something” said Barry, frowning. 

Venno scowled as she gave the Wolf Hound a quick glare, but then returned her attention back to Jerry’s empty seat, wondering when the Spider would finally arrive and start the meeting. 

“It’s nothing” said Venno, waving it off, deciding not to tell the Wolf Hound.

He wasn’t exactly her friend, so why should she tell him anything? 

Barry just scowled, his eyes narrowing before he shrugged, deciding it didn’t matter.

“So, not that it matters, but how did you do at that dance club with the Bull?” asked Barry, returning his attention back to where he had been looking. 

Venno just gave him a side glance before shrugging.

“It was actually pretty easy. Me and my sister had taken down two Great White Shark twins who were both around the same size as the Bull, so it wasn’t too bad” said Venno, remembering not to mention Dexx like she had with Jerry.
