The Bounty and the Hunter (Story 19 - Part 4)

With Venno: 

The Velociraptor had been asking around to see if anyone had seen an Anglerfish denizen, but had come up with nothing. 

The Velociraptor sighed as she returned to Jerry, the older Spider having gone over to the drinks table to grab something considering he was trying not to smoke even though there were a few denizens who were. 

“How’s your search going? Any luck finding someone who’d seen the Anglerfish?” asked Jerry, the older Spider scowling as he took a sip from his glass. 

Venno shook her head, the Velociraptor tilting her head to the side when she saw that Jerry was drinking what appeared to be an alcoholic drink. 

“How’s the drink?” asked Venno, the Velociraptor taking a glass of water instead considering she was currently pregnant. 

Jerry shrugged, the older Spider drinking the rest of his drink before putting the glass down on the table. 

“Not bad, but it’s missing something sweet to balance the bitter. But who am I to judge? I’m no expert in alcoholic drinks” said Jerry, the older Spider crossing his arms. 

Venno chuckled and nodded in understanding, the Velociraptor knowing her friend, Arachnè Widow, would have some suggestions for mixing drinks considering the Black Widow managed and owned her own bar. 

As Venno took a sip from her glass of water, the Velociraptor’s eyes suddenly widened in shock when she saw the Anglerfish walking by, on his way to one of the exits. 

The Anglerfish stopped and glanced around before quickly ducking out of the ballroom. 

Venno couldn’t help to spit out her water, the Velociraptor startling both Jerry and a few other denizens who had been nearby. 

“I see Dexx, you go tell my family that I found him and that we’ll be somewhere on the riverboat” said Venno quickly, the Velociraptor quickly putting her glass down and running after the Anglerfish. 

Jerry barely had enough time to say anything as Venno quickly turned the corner at a full sprint. 

Unfortunately for both her and Dexx, the Anglerfish was standing just outside the doorway where Venno couldn’t see him, so the Velociraptor ended up running into him at full speed and knocking them both over. 

“Maybe standing just outside the door where you can’t see me was a bad idea” muttered Dexx, the Anglerfish looking a little dazed and confused about what had just happened. 

Venno shook her head, the Velociraptor managing to regain herself before realizing the position they were both in. 

Venno was on top of Dexx, the Velociraptor straddling Dexx’s waist, their faces close. 

Venno chuckled nervously, the Velociraptor blushing brightly as she quickly got off and helped him to his feet. 

“Sorry about that, I didn’t think you’d be standing out here waiting to be caught” said Venno, the Velociraptor unable to help but joke about the situation they had gotten themselves in. 

Dexx chuckled as well, the Anglerfish smirking and nodding in agreement. 

“Yeah, but at least we're here together now” said Dexx, the Anglerfish shrugging weakly. 

Venno smiled and nodded in agreement, but she quickly frowned and glanced away, the two falling silent. 

Now was her chance to apologize and to tell Dexx about everything she wanted to tell him, but she found that the words were getting caught in her throat, stopping her from speaking.
