Broken Hearts (Story 17 - Part 3)

With Dexx: 

The Anglerfish and Velociraptor were both doing what they could as they fought the Human Deer, but they were unable to make any progress in slowing him down. 

The Human Deer, having obviously been trained by either himself or someone else, was calmly blocking every attack made by Venno and Dexx, sidestepping their every move. 

The Velociraptor snarled as she got pushed back, her claws unable to keep her feet from sliding along the marble floor because of how polished and smooth it was. 

Having managed to remain standing, her scythe still in hand, Venno snuck a quick glance over in Dexx’s direction, the Anglerfish appearing to be getting tired as well. 

Dexx noticed her glance, so the Anglerfish quickly managed to shake his head and regain himself. 

“I’m fine, let’s just keep fighting on. He has got to be getting tired as well” said the Anglerfish with a single nod. 

Dexx and Venno both returned their attention back to the Human Deer to see that he was now standing in front of the display case for the diamond, having quickly made his way over while the two were distracted for just a few seconds. 

Venno and Dexx both gasped, the Velociraptor giving Dexx a quick glare before she quickly made her way over. 

Dexx followed close behind, the Anglerfish feeling a little regret for letting the Human Deer get close. 

Before the Velociraptor and Anglerfish could even make it to stop him, they both halted in their tracks as the Human Deer swiftly swung his silver pole down on the display case, the glass shattering and falling all over the floor. 

Silently picking up the diamond, the Human Deer seemed to examine it before holding the end of his pole close to it as if it were supposed to do something. 

After a few seconds of nothing happening, the Human Deer scoffed and scowled before shaking his head in disappointment. 

“Well, this was yet again another disappointment in my search. I won’t be needing this, so I’ll just be taking my leave, now” said the Human Deer, putting the diamond back in its place before turning to the two. 

Venno snarled as she clutched her scythe tightly in her hand, her paralyzing glare seeming to have no effect on the Human Deer, her tail whipping from side to side. 

“Sorry, buddy, but you’re coming with us. You still have a bounty, so you can either come to the BHA and explain everything, or you can try to run away” said Venno. 

The Human Deer simply just stared at the two with a serious look on his face before shrugging lightly. 

“I prefer to run” said the Human Deer simply, a smoke bomb seeming to appear in his left hand before he quickly tossed it down on the floor, the thing exploding in a cloud of thick white smoke.

Venno and Dexx were both caught off guard by this, the Anglerfish and Velociraptor struggling to see through the white smoke that surrounded them. 

As the smoke began to slowly fade, Dexx heard Venno gasp, the Anglerfish glancing over at her. 

“He’s trying to make a run for it” said Venno. 

Dexx looked over at where Venno was pointing, the Human Deer just disappearing around the corner as he left the exhibit room.

“And you said he should be getting tired, huh?” said Venno, the Velociraptor being sarcastic as she gave Dexx a quick glare in annoyance before quickly running off after the bounty.
