The Denial of Love (Story 16 - Part 1)

With Jerry: 

The older Spider was sitting in his office, having just arrived and was taking a sip from his coffee mug while watching the news. 

He was waiting a few minutes before heading down to the meeting room to give the Bounty Hunters the folders that he had Scott prepare the previous night. 

Jerry was taking a sip from his coffee mug until something on the news caught his attention. 

“And on other news, the elusive thief, Dexx Angle, was said to have broken into the Terronto City Museum. The guard on duty had caught the thief just as he was grabbing a diamond. Unfortunately, he managed to escape before anything could be done” explained the news anchor, frowning. 

This caused Jerry to quickly spit out his coffee, the older Spider slamming his mug down on his desk as the scene changed from the news anchor to a reporter standing in front of the museum with the guard. 

“You've got to be kidding me. How is he so bloody good at escaping every time?” demanded Jerry, the older Spider quickly deciding to call Fiona as the reporter began explaining what had happened. 

“Fiona, inform the Bounty Hunters that I’ll be down there a little later. And bring me Rapter, will you?” asked Jerry, the older Spider deciding not to tell the Pomeranian why he would be a little late. 

“Yes, sir. I’m on it right away” said Fiona, the Pomeranian quickly hanging up in order to do what Jerry had just asked her to do. 

Jerry sat back in his seat as he turned his TV off, the older Spider swiftly taking out a cigar and lighting it, waiting for the Velociraptor. 

With Venno: 

Venno got off the elevator, having just been told by Fiona that Jerry would like her to go up to his office. 

The Velociraptor was unsure of what it was about, but she knew that it had to be serious enough for Jerry to also tell the other Bounty Hunters that he would be down a little later. 

Venno halted just in front of the doors to Jerry’s office, the Velociraptor suddenly feeling afraid of what Jerry might say. 

Taking a deep breath before sighing, Venno quickly entered the office, closing the doors behind her. 

“Rapter, come take a seat. It’s about that one bounty you’ve got” said Jerry, the older Spider gesturing for the Velociraptor to take a seat. 

Venno nodded, the Velociraptor nervously walking over to the chair in front of Jerry’s desk and taking a seat. 

“Yes, boss? What about him?” asked Venno, afraid to even ask. 

Jerry took a slow puff from his cigar before answering, the older Spider deciding to ask his own question. 

“Are you purposefully letting him go, choosing not to catch him because of something he told you?” asked Jerry bluntly, the older Spider scowling as he narrowed his eyes at Venno. 

Venno was shocked to hear the question, considering it was part of the reason why she hadn’t yet caught Dexx.

Venno managed to quickly regain herself before Jerry could suspect anything was wrong, the Velociraptor shaking her head. 

“No, sir. It’s just as you said when you first gave me his bounty. He’s just too quick and fast at escaping. He knows exactly what he’s doing and he never hesitates. I’ve gotten close a couple of times, but he always gets away” said Venno, pretending to be annoyed as she crossed her arms and rolled her eyes, scowling.
