The Mountain of Secrets (Story 12 - Part 5)

With Venno and Barry: 

The Velociraptor and Wolf Hound had managed to find themselves on the other side of the ravine, the side that they had both fallen from after the Grizzly Bear had cut the rope bridge. 

Now they were standing outside of a cave that they had found after continuing up the mountain, having followed the faint trail of footprints that were barely visible in the fresh snow that had recently fallen. 

Luckily the snow storm had stopped, meaning they were able to see where they were going, allowing them to follow the tracks and eventually make it to the cave where they led. 

Remaining silent, Venno gestured for Barry to follow, the Wolf Hound nodding in understanding before following the Velociraptor into the cave. 

Once inside, they followed the cave down a few meters before halting in their tracks, hearing the sound of a familiar voice speaking angrily to himself. 

Smiling, Venno continued her way down with the Wolf Hound closely following, the two ensuring not to make too much noise. 

Making it to the end of the cave, the two peeked around the corner and saw the Grizzly Bear at what appeared to be a workbench, attempting to clean the axe. 

“I know using this thing that one time was a bad idea, but I still did it anyway. Now I have to fix the crack on the blade” muttered the Grizzly Bear, lifting the axe to examine the blade. 

Venno and Barry could see the crack in the blade, most likely from the single use made earlier that day. 

Deciding it would be best to make their presence known, Venno and Barry both stepped out of hiding, the Wolf Hound clearing his throat. 

The Grizzly Bear jumped in fright, having not expected them to find him. 

“How did you both survive that fall and find your way out?” demanded the Grizzly Bear, clutching the axe tightly in his hands. 

Barry chuckled as Venno frowned and crossed her arms. 

“That’s not important. What’s important is that the two of us finish what we started, and that’s hunting you down and bringing you in” said Barry. 

Venno smiled and nodded, the Velociraptor summoning her scythe. 

“Or you could give up and come with us willingly. It’s up to you” said Venno, shrugging. 

The Grizzly Bear could only growl in anger, trying to think of what he should do. 

With Jerry, Fiona and Scott: 

The older Spider, Pomeranian, and Possum all stepped off the train, having just arrived at the Ice Cavern Mountain. 

Fiona and Scott had both changed into something warmer before they left, the Possum choosing to wear a simple green jacket and matching boots whereas Fiona was wearing a purple jacket with a matching pair of boots and hat. 

Jerry’s sniper rifle was slung over his shoulder, the older Spider taking a slow puff from his cigar before glancing around. 

“Alright, let’s go around and see if anyone has seen those two. Hopefully, if we’re lucky, they may have turned back to avoid a snowstorm” said Jerry, the older Spider muttering the last part under his breath. 

Scott nodded in understanding before he turned and started walking off, Fiona remaining behind, the Pomeranian unsure of what to do. 

“Sir, I don’t know if this is a good idea. I’m worried about them, too, but I know that they’re both really great Bounty Hunters, so I’m sure they’ll be fine” said Fiona, trying to be strong, but it was clear she was worrying.
