The Bounty and the Hunter (Story 19 - Part 2)

With Venno: 

The Velociraptor was shocked to say the least. 

She had no idea that she would be attending such an important event, much less a meeting to help plan it anyway. 

The Velociraptor and older Spider were both sitting in a boardroom with many other denizens listening to what one of the head CEOs was saying. 

It had only been two days since Venno began as the new CEO of the BHA, and she had been so busy with getting settled in the office and being told by Jerry what to do during certain situations. 

Venno was shocked to find how much busier it is to run the Bounty Hunter Agency. She had no idea there were so many other things that Jerry had to do that she didn’t know about considering she was normally out on hunts. 

Scott even decided to start a new leaderboard, the Possum saying that a new CEO of the BHA meant that the Bounty Hunters get to try beating the new record instead. Venno couldn’t remember exactly how Scott said it, but the Possum put the old leaderboard up on display in the meeting room to remind everyone to work just as hard to beat their old numbers. 

Fiona and Scott were still working their jobs, but Venno had decided to make Barry her head Bounty Hunter, the Velociraptor having seen how hard he worked only to get nothing in the end despite him being alright with not becoming the new CEO.

Basically, whenever she was unable to make it to the Bounty Hunter Agency and needed someone to fill in, Barry would be put in charge until she returned. 

The Velociraptor knew that she could trust Barry, and she could see that he was just happy to have an important role after many years of working for Jerry as just a Bounty Hunter. 

Venno was suddenly startled out of her thoughts at the sound of someone yelling something, a female Goat denizen pointing an accusing finger at another denizen for some reason. 

Venno sighed and shook her head. 

Venno was barely listening to what was being said, the Velociraptor hugging her stomach as her mind went through the many ways she would tell Dexx that she was pregnant. 

Jerry glanced over at Venno, the older Spider taking a slow puff from his cigarette. 

“What’s on your mind, Rapter?” said Jerry, the older Spider curious to hear what Venno had to say. 

Venno perked up, the Velociraptor glancing over at Jerry. 

“Well, I was just thinking about how I’d tell Dexx the news. That I’m pregnant, that is. I suppose it just all comes down to when and where we’ll meet” said Venno, the Velociraptor shrugging weakly. 

Jerry took a quick puff from his cigarette before nodding, the older Spider understanding what she meant.  

“And as to where the ball will be taking place, instead of hosting it at my mansion like every other time, we will be hosting it on my riverboat down in New Helleans. Now this is important to remember, please make it on time, otherwise the riverboat will be leaving without you” said the mayor proudly. 

Jerry tilted his head to the side, the older Spider a little surprised to hear this. 

“Huh, this’ll be interesting to see. Can’t believe they’re doing it on the mayor’s riverboat this time. There’s bound to be quite a few valuables in his personal cabin. Heard he even has an emerald gem displayed somewhere on board” muttered Jerry mostly to himself, but the older Spider was loud enough for Venno to hear. 

Venno hummed in thought, the Velociraptor thinking about what Jerry had said before perking up at the sudden realization. 

“Oh my gosh, that’s it” exclaimed Venno, the Velociraptor making sure she wasn’t too loud while smiling at the revelation she just made.
