A week had passed since the incident between Meliodas and Elizabeth and it showed as his mannerisms had changed. He would ask her opinion about more things, including her in conversations even if her opinion wasn't entirely needed. He would even spend a moment to thank her personally for her hard work as well as give her tips or encouragement on how she was improving.

Before it seemed like there was a wall between him and her that made it hard for the girl to connect with him. But now it was like he was trying to make a door through the wall based on the crack in it she had made with her words. It was like the blond was trying to show her that he valued her just as much as she valued him, and it made her very happy. Elizabeth wasn't the only one who had noticed it either.

Ever since finding the two asleep on the tavern floor (and sneaking a few pictures of it thanks to Merlin) the others had noticed the change in the two's relationship. Some even wondering if it was developing into something more.

Of course this caused a divide between the sins as each reacted differently.

"No way can those two get together! He'd take advantage of her even more! I forbid it!"

"But what if he touches her like that because he secretly likes her Hawke?"

"I mean, that's a good point Diane, but how are you so okay with this? I thought you had a crush on the pervert?"

A sad look filled her eyes.

"I mean... I-I do, but if it makes Elizabeth and him happy being together then how can I stand in the way of that? Besides, they would look adorable together!"

Hope filled King's eyes as he heard that, but also a hint of sadness as he knew she was sad about this.

"I-I guess it would be fine if they both want to."

It'll also give Diane a chance to move on and maybe notice me!

Ban stayed silent during this exchange, something that didn't go unnoticed.

"Hey Ban? You okay? You haven't said much this whole time. I thought you'd be all over this."

He didn't look up from the spot on the table he was staring at, clearly thinking about something that upset him by the frown on his face.

"Do ya guys remember what Merlim told us about? About demons being fallen beings of light?"

This caused the others to tense as they had forgotten about what Merlin had told them to make way for the much more trivial mission they had created.

"Oh yeah... I-I guess I forgot. Wh-What about it Ban?"

Silence filled the place once more as if Ban was trying to decide if he should say what was clearly on his mind.

"I guess it's just making me wonder... if maybe the Cap'n used to be one too... I mean, if so.. does that mean he was corrupted like others? And does that mean he's evil, or still maybe holding onto the light he used to have..."

The words stuck with something inside of each of them. Like it opened their eyes to a new possibility about the Captain's past, and along with it a bunch of new questions.

After all... if he really did used to be a goddess... that could mean that the way their captian acted wasn't an act but really just a glimpse into the person he used to be

"Hurry! We need to evacuate! The darkness is spreading!"

"AAAAGGHH!!"

The blond watched in a mix of sadness and guilt as the darkness spread to another goddess, ripping off their wings and erasing their light. Soon the scream of horror and cries for help turned into a twisted growl from the now red demon.

Before it could destroy any others however it was quickly eradicated, two soldiers taking it down.

Of course many mourned over the death, but none could focus on it because the darkness was still coming, and if the group didn't move, they would be next.

Meliodas was very strong for his kind. Many thought he would even end up being chosen to lead the realm since the Supreme Diety didn't have an heir, however it was this very power that frightened the goddesses.

Goddesses that were turned into demons became the opposite of themselves with an equal amount of power. Meaning the higher the rank in goddess, the higher in rank in demon. Therefore if he got corrupted... he would be a very dangerous enemy. That's why he wasn't allowed to help the others fight and was being evacuated with the others.

However that didn't mean he was going to sit back and do nothing. He took charge of the group cowering in fear and helped any stragglers who were left behind.

Many lives were saved because of him as well as families kept together, but there was only one family member for him to worry about losing. His younger sister was considerably weaker then him, but had a heart of gold. She was all he had left after a war several years ago took their parents and older brother. That's why he constantly kept an eye on her to make sure the darkness didn't spread to her.

However... in the middle of chaos and loss.. it was easy to lose track of people.

"Have you seen Evangeline!?"

A shake of the head that left his heart pounding harder in his chest.

"Have you seen Eva?"

"What about you! Have you seen my sister? Blond hair, two wings?"

"No, sorry."

"I'm afraid I haven't."

"She must've gotten left during the evacuation, I'm so sorry."

Something twisted deep in his heart at hearing that. They were so close. So close to freedom, so close to getting rid of the final demons, so close to vanquished the darkness, and yet he found his body going back into the bloodbath in search of one person he refused to leave behind.

Many voices cried for him to leave her and go back, most of them ringing in his mind as he realized that if he got turned he would become a monster that could end the goddess race all together... but as he saw his sister huddled in the corner trying to avoid the darkness creeping up to her... that didn't matter anymore.

He ran as fast as his legs would take him...

and shielded her from it while it overtook him instead.

He remembered smiling at her, wiping away her tears, and saying one last thing as his four wings were ripped from his back.

"It's going to be okay. Please... don't cry."

Meliodas's eyes dulled slightly as he went to put on his shirt, looking in the mirror to see four large scars on his back.

Eva... I hope you're doing okay.

I'm probably gonna make this a three parter or a book. I'm not sure. Let me know which you would prefer.. Also I know this isny even remotely accurate to the show, but I've had this idea for awhile and I thought it would be really cool.
