#5 Twisted Heart and Numb Mind

This is a story based on one I saw awhile back that I sadly can't remember the name of. The idea is based off of it but I didn't actually read the story so it will not be similar plot wise. Basically, during the holy war Elizabeth brainwashed Meliodas and essentially made him a slave to her that would be willing to even betray his own clan in order to please her. However... she forgot how strong his will was. Even though it's been three thousand years, he's still trying to fight her, but he's starting to mix truth and what he is being forced to feel. He doesn't even know if he truly has fallen for her, or if it's just the curse she put on him.

"Y-You're wrong! M-Meliodas would never betray the demon race! I-I know my brother better than that! He's the strongest one of us! T-There's no way!"

"You need to wake up Zeldris. I saw it myself... he was with that, goddess. He has betrayed us."

"But that can't be! He hates the goddesses! Especially Elizabeth!"

"ENOUGH! Sigh... Look, I understand this is hard. But we are missing our strongest soldier. We can't let anything else go wrong, and that includes making sure our emotions are in check so we can win this war."

Trying to suppress the tears threatening to fall from the young boy's face, he flew off in search of his eldest brother. Knowing there just had to be more to this.

After hours of hopeless searching, he could finally sense it, his brother's fearsome power that he was known for.

Landing and calling out to the other demon, he soon stopped in his tracks as he felt his hearts shatter. Like Estarossa had said... he was standing with that... goddess.

"B-Big brother?"

"Oh.. Zeldris.. what are you doing here?"

"W-What do you mean what am I doing here?! You've been missing for days and we were starting to worry about you! Or... at least I was.. I-I heard you and this.. goddess, were together but I didn't want to believe it... W-Why are you with this... monster!? At least give me an explanation."

"An... explanation? What is there to explain.. I'm with Elizabeth's now. We've been talking for a few months and I've decided to leave the demon race to fight with her."

"I-It can't be true!!"

"It is.. now, leave before I make you. You are starting to make Elizabeth uncomfortable."

The boy was confused and hurt by the way the demon was acting towards him. Of course he had always seemed cruel and heartless in public, but he had always been there for Zeldris.

No matter how hard things were for him as one of the weaker siblings, Meliodas never treated him poorly like the other demons, and would even help him train whenever he had the time, regardless of his apparent exhaustion from his missions.
