Set back during the holy war with the original Elizabeth and Meliodas. Back when they first got together. Completely made up, I don't know much about then, so this is just a cute little story.
Meliodas's eyes twitched as he found himself in his current predicament. Elizabeth had always been very.. emotional compared to him, and often times, he found that to be a good thing.
There was just one thing he couldn't understand about the other races, and that was physical affection. Whether physical activity, hugs, kisses, hell, even something as small as holding hands bothered him.
Unfortunately for him though, Elizabeth loved this kind of stuff. (Well, the last three. She was a goddess of purity after all.) He had made it very clear to her that he didn't want nor like these things, and for the most part, she listened, but occasionally, she would feel more affectionate or clingy, and he would have to remind her.
Now, he may be a bit emotionally unintelligent or awkward, but he wasn't heartless. He saw how sad she would look every time he would push her away, even if she did tell him that it was alright. And, unlike how most people would think, he felt bad for making her feel like that. It wasn't that he didn't care for her, it was just he didn't know how to show it.
Which is what led him here... walking around the forest muttering to himself and trying to come up with a way to put into words what he was thinking.
After a few frusterated growls and shattered trees, he finally sighed and went off to Heavens theater for their weekly meeting.
Taking a seat, he forced down the nervous pit in his stomach at seeing her arrive shortly after him.
"Hey Meli! How have you been? I'm sorry I haven't been able to contact you lately, I've been so busy healing some of our soldiers that were wounded in the last battle that I haven't had time to do much of anything else."
He grunted in acknowledgment as he continued trying to work up the nerve to discuss his current dilemma.
"Are you alright? Is something wrong? Is it your father? What can I do?"
He felt a small smile tug at his lips at her concern.
"No, everything is fine, it's just.. there's something we need to discuss."
She tilted her head slightly in confusion.
"Oh? And what's that?"
"We've been together for a few months now, and... I realize I haven't been the most... showing, in my feelings for you, or any at all for that matter."
"Meli, I've already told you, it's alright I underst-"
"It isn't alright because it isn't normal by any standards. I can acknowledge that. I...
Ever since I was young I was taught to push down all emotions.. that they were a weakness. So that's what I did, and that's what I saw them as. Until I met you. At first, I thought maybe it was some sort of spell or brainwashing you were using to manipulate me, but... after awhile I realized that what I was feeling was emotion.
It was confusing, and.. odd, but soon I found that I liked it. That I liked you. You bring out a side of me I didn't even know existed, but... that doesn't mean I'm not still a creation of the demonic society I grew up in. Although I've learned to accept my feelings for you, I didn't grow up with affection or attention as the normal. So.. it's really.. weird to me."
Elizabeth looked both incredibly happy that he was opening up, and slightly confused as to where he was going with this.
I'm rambling. Get to the point!
"What I'm saying, is.. that I-I don't know how to be affectionate with you.. but.. I-I'm willing to try if you'll put up with a few dozen curse words and some uncomfortable moments."
A large smile spread across her face as well as a few happy tears in her eyes.
"Of course I am Meli.. but, you don't have to do this if you don't want to or aren't comfortable doing it. We can always take this slow."
"Goddess, I wouldn't have recommended it if I didn't mean it would I?"
She smiled.
"I suppose not, demon. So when would you like to start trying?"
He smiled as she used the little name they would call each other shortly after they met. It was so funny thinking back to those times and how much they used to bicker.
"How about now?"
"Really?"
"I mean, we haven't met in a few weeks and the same pattern could apply for the future if things get worse, so might as well."
She nodded at him.
"Okay, what would you like to start with, I don't want to make you uncomfortable or move too quickly, so holding hands might be best."
For some reason unbeknownst to him, he decided that that wasn't enough.
"Actually, what about this?"
He gently grabbed her arm and pulled her towards his chest, holding her close as her face turned bright red.
"A-Are you sure this is okay?"
He wasn't quite sure of the answer to that either, but... it felt nice. Weird, but nice.
After a few moments of standing, he slowly made his way over to a rock and sat down with his back leaning against it. Taking the still blushing goddess along with him and repositioning her so she was laying on his chest like a pillow.
It was still incredibly uncomfortable to him, and every part of him screamed to get as far away from her as possible, but.. the way she smiled and slowly began to fall asleep with a little sigh, made all of this worth it.
Maybe this isn't so bad after all..
Sorry if the chapter isn't great. Made it in a rush, hope you liked!
