"YOU USELESS PIECE OF SHIT! HOW DARE YOU LET YOURSELF BE INJURED IN BATTLE!"

"I-I'm sorry father.."

His words came out fearful and raspy as the large man had his hands around the boy's throat. He had gotten separated from the rest of the commandments during battle and ended up getting wounded. He still didn't know why the goddess he had held hostage that day had saved him. However he did know that he would've died if she hadn't.

Although... knowing that his father would do to him as punishment.. maybe death would've been more merciful.

The sound of sickening blows, screams, and crunches rang out as he was beaten into a similar state of what he had been in when the goddess had healed him. Only this time, she wasn't there to save him.

He was lucky that one of the servents informed the demon king of a meeting with the vampires, or the injuries would've been much worse.

As the man dropped the bloodied child onto the floor, he stormed out as the blond gasped for breath and heaved and coughed. Some blood coming up as he did so.

Soon after regaining his bearings, he limped out to continue his duties regardless of the immense pain he was in. His weakened state prohibiting the blond from seeing that a certain goddess had watched the whole thing.

Elizabeth was shocked, she had no idea the boy was being treated so badly. Ever since the two's exchange, his image had plagued her mind and clouded her judgment enough for her to sneak into the demon realm to try to find him.

She had been surprised to see that he was such a high rank, but it changed into something akin to pity, sadness, and aching for the poor boy she saw so miserable.

Her attempt to get answers just made her have even more questions, something she hoped she could get help from by the boy if the two ever met again. Although it was unlikely as she realized she needed to get back to the goddess realm before she was caught.

Using her wings to fly away, she stayed unusualy quiet the rest of the day, in a daze as her mind replayed the sight again and again. She hoped he was okay. After all, those wounds were severe and the demons didn't have the healing abilities goddesses did.

Her mind was in a loop and her mood was deeply distressed as she couldn't stop thinking about it and how she couldn't do anything for him.

That is until her sister Veronica tried once again to get her attention.

"Ellie!"

"H-Huh!? Y-Yes Veronica?"

"You've been really out of it all day. Are you getting sick? Has something happened?"

She gave the most convincing smile she could manage.

"O-Oh no I'm fine! I've just been thinking about the border issue that's all."

"Oh Ellie, you know you don't have to worry about that. We've already assigned several guards to the post to make sure no demons get through. So there isn't any need for worry."

Oh great.. now I have no way to go back there..

"Really the only time you'll need to worry is during the ball."

"B-Ball? What do you mean?"

Her sister gave her a bewildered look, clearly shocked she didn't know about whatever it was she was supposed to know.

"You weren't told? A ball is being held next week to discuss a peace treaty between the goddesses and demons. It's to make sure no more lives on either side are lost and precautions are made.
All kinds of demons will be there which is why I'm not thrilled about the idea, but I'll be standing guard along with several other soldiers to make sure nothing happens, so you shouldn't worry a whole lot. Just make sure you're cautious."
