Meliodas looked up in shock at the hand desperately trying to hold him up. Tears were streaming down their face and they were trying as hard as they could to keep the blond up, regardless of the fact that it was starting to pull them down too.
"Zeldris w-what are you doing? Let go!"
"No! I-I won't lose you! Y-You were wrong! I won't be fine without you! You're my big brother Meli... I need you. And right now you need me too!"
Crack
"ZELDRIS LET GO NOW! YOU'RE GONNA FALL!"
"If I let go you'll fall!"
He sniffled as his tears continued to fall down, oddly enough though, those small little droplets were enough to push back the wave consuming his mind.
"Zeldris I-"
CRACK!
"BROTHER NO!"
His grip slipped, and so did the bar supporting their weight. Once again Meliodas was fallingly... everything seeming to go in slow motion. The sins pulling back Zeldris before he fell with him, the tears and shouts they all cried, and the seemingly never ending trip to the peace he had once craved. Only this time....
He didn't want to die.
Meliodas's eyes shot open as soon as his body had hit the ground. He at first was relieved that it had just been a dream, but the relief turned into confusion as he saw he was in a hospital bed with tubes attached to him.
"W-Where-"
"MELI! DOCTORS!! HE'S AWAKE!"
He looked over in confusion to see two boys standing there that looked so... familiar. One had black hair and features similar to his brother's, but they were much more defined and older, as well as a hight difference being about 5'5 rather than the 4'5 he was used to.
And the other was similar looking with the same green eyes and silver hair to his older younger brother, Estarossa, but he was much much taller and more well built.
What.. was going on?
"I-I can't believe it! You're finally awake!"
"Wha- w-who are you?"
He was shocked to find his voice raspy and raw, as if he hadn't spoken in years.
"Big brother... you've been in a coma for two years now. After the... incident, at the bridge, you were severely injured, and put in an induced coma until the doctors were sure you recovered. The only thing was... after they took you out of it you didn't wake up. We... We thought we lost you for good."
"But.. no, w-we were just there. We were just at the bridge! Y-You tried to save me Zeldris but.. Wait, how did you guys not get put in the system!? If I was really gone that long how did you get taken care of? W-where are the sins?"
He started firing off question after question, not even giving them a chance to reply before asking the next thing he was confused about.
"The Sins are fine, in fact.. it was Ban who took us in. Since his uncle/guardian is so wealthy, they had no problem supporting us and your medical bills until Esta got a job about a year ago. And as for how long you've been out... I-It really has been two years Meli."
Starimg at the ceiling in shock, he waited for his brain to catch up before saying the words that were long overdue.
"I'm sorry... I-I'm.. so so sorry."
Tears flooded his emerald eyes and slid down his face as he was overwhelmed with grief. He had failed the very people he had sworn to take care of. He had failed to see them grow up into who they were now, he had failed to show up to four birthdays that he should have been there for regardless of whether or not he could afford a gift.
He had failed.
Startled from his thoughts once more, he felt two arms wrap around him. And then two more.
"It's gonna be okay big brother. Let us take care of you for once."
"We will always be here for you no matter what. So please.. stop being so hard on yourself and love yourself as much as you've loved and taken care of us over the years. It's gonna be okay."
A smile came onto the blond's face as a few more tears slid down.
Yeah.. it is going to be okay. Because I have you two with me. And I'm never, leaving you guys again.
