#50 A MelBan Story: Soft Spot (request)

Ban had been staring at the blond for most of the day now. Not because he was wanting to fight like most days... it was because he was looking for something.

He had been informed by Merlin that demons all had a soft spot that would make them go limp and begin to purr when touched, and the immortal knowing what he did about the captain's race, was determined to find it. After all, seeing his captain have that kind of reaction would be rare since the blond was typically so aloof.

Of course due to the two's relationship, he saw a different side to the boy all the time, but the boy still had walls he put up. That's why Ban was so determined to see this.

I've been looking for awhile but I haven't seen any part on him that looks particularly odd. And I have some pretty keen eyes. Maybe it's not visible? Then how the hell am I supposed to find it? I'm pretty sure he'd find it odd if I just start poking him randomly. We may be together, but we aren't terribly touchy feely. Hmmm...

Racking his brain to try and figure something out, he was unaware that his staring had been noticed by a few people.

"Hey, Ban. I don't mind you and the captain in a relationship, but can you stop staring at him like you're about to pounce on him? We have customers."

King gave him a scolding look as he said it and that was when the immortal realized that he probably giving off signals not intended.

"Sorry. I'm gonna take my ten, kay?"

The fairy was shocked by the lack of retort, but nodded and allowed the man to walk outside as he took his break.

Damn.. I have no idea how I'm gonna find that spot. Maybe Merlin was just messing with me..

"Hey, what'cha doing out here Ban? Your break isn't for another hour."

He looked up as the boy he was thinking about as the other gave a confused stare.

"Do you um... Do you ever think we aren't close enough?"

The blond blinked in surprise, it wasn't often for Ban to ask stuff like that.

"Why do you ask that?"

The immortal stayed silent, that was the real reason he was wanting to find this thing so badly. It would mean he knew even just a little more about the blond he loved so much.

"..Ban?"

He could tell the other other getting worried by his silence so he decided to speak his mind.

"It's just that...  Merlin told me something about demons today and I've been working my ass off to try to find it. But... that isn't the real reason I'm upset. I'm upset that I didn't even know about it in the first place, just like I don't know so many other things about you... You're so secretive, and.. I get it, but it doesn't mean it doesn't still bother me when even small things like this happen and I have no idea about it."

The blond was silent for a moment before he spoke, no doubt processesing his words.

"She told you about a demons soft spot... didn't she?"

The immortal nodded, a bit surprised that he immediately guessed it.

Taking a seat beside the man, Meliodas took a deep breath before talking.

"You're right Ban. There are a lot of things I keep from you, some of them I have to in order to protect you, but others are because... because I'm afraid. I was terrified when you found out I was a demon because I know your history with them, that's why I'm so hesitant to tell you anything about my race and what it entails.

I know logically you've already accepted me for what and who I am, but there's always a part of me that knows the horrible things my race has done. The horrible things I've done. And I'm scared that if I tell you even a small part of that side of me... you'll leave."

Ban was stunned, he hadn't thought of that before. His captain was so strong always, even after the two began dating, he never truly thought that the boy was soft or weak like others.

"I'd never leave you Mel. I know I can't change how you feel, but I mean it. I'm all in Mel, and I want to be with you for the eternity I have left."

The boy looked shocked before he gave a soft smile. Taking a deep breath his mood turned nervous but cheery once more.

"Okay then, my spot's on my neck. Every demon has a different reaction, some get clingy and cuddly while others purr and go limp, some even bust out laughing. Just.. be careful okay? It's a really vulnerable spot so you have to be gentle or you could hurt me."

Ban nodded, knowing this was the first step in the blond opening up.

"Kay, got it."

The blond turned his head while Ban gently put his fingers on the boy's neck, poking a few parts before the boy tensed and fell on his lap with a loud purr as his eyes were closed and he nuzzled slightly against the immortal.

It was definitely an adorable reaction even though it was expected. It was definitely something Ban knew he'd cherish since it was the first time he'd heard the boy purr as well as snuggle against him.

Gently picking him up, he re-adjusted the two so Meliodas was snuggled against his chest. (I remember one of my readers saying this word was a little hard to read, so I'll try to word it like this from now on to help separate it. Hope this helps!)

He kissed the blond's forehead before petting his hair lightly.

"I love you Mel..."

The boy snuggled and purred a little louder, and he knew that that was Meliodas's way of saying it back.
