You did WHAT!?"

The voice rang throughout the house, scaring the poor child who didn't like loud noises, even though the question wasn't directed at him.

"Relax Zeldy, he was a racist bastard that was trying to treat Syrus like crap and get away with it."

"That doesn't excuse the threat you gave him! What if they press charges!? We both know we would lose the case, demons always get screwed over in these scenarios!"

"So instead your proposing that we let them treat your kid like that!? You of all people I thought would've understood!"

"I'm not saying we wouldn't have done anything, but handling it in a better manner would have been at least tried! We could get arrested for this!"

"The only one who would get arrested is me, you guys didn't do anything. And besides, if it means that little boy has a better childhood then we did then I say it's worth it!"

The fighting continued as the two brothers yelled back and forth, unknowingly almost putting the small boy witnessing it in tears.

"Mommy... why are they fighting? Did I do something wrong? Are they mad at me?"

"No sweetheart, they aren't mad at you, they're just stressed about the situation. Why don't you go play in your room for a bit, alright baby?"

He nodded, tears welling in his eyes. It was odd for a creature born of two of the most deadly monsters in the realms
to be such a sensitive and sweet little child, but unfortunately most didn't get to know him well enough to see that.

Heading off to his room quickly so he didn't have to hear more fighting, the others didn't even noticed his absence as they continued their arguing.

"For crying out loud Zeldris! Why are you making such a big deal out of this!? The kid was being bullied and absolutely NOTHING was being done about it! Would you have rather me just stood there smiling and nodding as they talked about how much of a horrible child that kid is!? We both know that isn't true!"

"Well you threatening the principle I'm sure didn't help prove otherwise for him!"

"Yeah but we both know nothing we could say would change his mind! At least this way he won't get picked on anymore!"

"Listen, I'm sorry you and Elizabeth can't have kids, but stop trying to control the way mine lives! Gelda and I are the parents, NOT you, so butt out of this and stop treating my kid like he's your own!"

Hurt welled up in Meliodas's eyes for a brief second, long enough for Zeldris to feel guilt replace his anger.

"Meli.. I-"

"*Scoff* So your really gonna play that card, huh? Fine. We're done here. You want me out of your kid's life, fine. However maybe you should try thinking of the kid's wellbeing for one second instead of how to keep face with the humans. Because I guarantee that kid is crying his eyes out right now thinking this is his fault."

With those final words, soft, angry, and hurt, he left quietly. Not giving the other a chance to apologize.

Zeldris tried to speak, but not even Gelda wanted to hear his excuses. She understood his side of things, and agreed that Meliodas could have handled it better, however he had done so much for them and their child over the years. The card her husband pulled about him and Elizabeth, was entirely uncalled for, as well as telling him to butt out when he had been there for their child almost every time they needed.

Walking off, she went to go check on the boy his father had failed to consider in the two's... disagreement. Leaving behind a very upset Zeldris to think about the last conversation the two brothers would have for several years.
