Spoiler alert. Also this is set in an AU where Zeldris and Gelda left with Meliodas so they could be together and have seen all of his breakdowns when he loses Elizabeth. They are also having to meet with Bartra due to him wanting to know more about what happened to Danafor since that is around the time this is set. This idea was recommended by IOnlyWantToRead if I remember correctly.

Zeldris paced the halls with great worry. He knew how hard this already was on Meliodas, but the difference this time is that he didn't just lose Liz, he lost Danafor.

He had made friends there, dare he say even family, but they were all murdered by the demon Fraudrin, and as a result Meliodas lost control of his power in a way that Zeldris hasn't seen since they were fighting together during the holy war. Which proved one thing...

Meliodas was starting to lose to the curse their father had placed on him.

"Love, please stop pacing. You will only work yourself up more."

He turned his attention to the beautiful vampire sitting to the side of him, the very reason he had left the demon realm by Meliodas's side. He didn't even want to think about what would have happened if he hadn't had joined his brother.. all he knew, is that it wouldn't have ended without heartache and pain on either side.

"Sorry Gelda. It's just.... you and I both know what losing Elizabeth means for him.. and based on how he reacted back in Danafor, I don't know how much longer he can keep it together. And now on top of his meltdown and loss... he's having to meet with the king of Liones to explain himself without giving too much away. What if he finally loses it and destroys this place as well? What if we have to fight him? What if he accidently says the wrong thing and is taken away because of what he is? We both know he doesn't possess the strength he used to.. What if-"

He was silenced by a hush and a finger on his lips to motion silence, to which he followed the command.

"I know you are worried for him, understandably so, however, you need to have more faith in him. You always worry about him so much and he always pulls through."

"But this time is different, he-"

"I know Zeldris, but he's still here is he not? He hasn't tried suicide like in the past, and he hasn't given in to the darkness even if he did falter. After all, if he had truly given in, he wouldn't have stopped at Danafor. He's simply grieving for his loss while trying to make sure the new reincarnation of Elizabeth is alright."

Zeldris stayed silent even after her finger had moved from his lips and she had gone back to sit down again. He wasn't mad, she was right after all, he was just incredibly worried for his elder brother and the fate he might inevitably succumb to.

Sigh.... She's right though. I know my brother is strong enough to make it through this.. it's just.... I still don't know how many more times he can hold onto that strength...

The demon was interrupted from his thoughts by the sound of a door creaking open and small footsteps walking away from it.

"Meliodas! How did it go? Are you okay? What's going on?"

He gave his fretting brother his usual smile, a stark contrast to the tears and cries of fury after losing control and destroying Danafor.

"Yeah I'm good. Don't get your panties in such a wad over little ol me. The king just wanted to know what happened and I told him. We were survivors of a horrible magic blast set off by one of Danafor's enemies, and had managed to find little Elizabeth on our way out, her parents already dead."
