Meliodas looked at both nothing and the incomprehensible something that was in front of him. Part of him felt like this was all just a dream, like he was sleepwalking and just waiting to wake up from this nightmare.
"We are gathered here today to honor and pay our respects to the fallen. For we are not here to grieve over the dead, but to celebrate the passage to the afterlife of this young boy who has passed on much before his time. So do not be sad, instead be happy that he can move on from this sin ridden world and go to the inevitable and wonderful place of heaven that we will join him in someday ourselves. A place where he will no longer suffer."
Don't.. be sad? Celebrate..? How can I do that... when I keep seeing the dead body of my brother about to be buried into the ground...?
"This is a hard and difficult time for many who had loved him dearly, some including that of his elder brother Meliodas Dracon, close friends Gloxina Vine and Estarossa Mael, and lastly those who had aided his elder brother in taking care of the minor during his final years: Ban Amborgio, Diane Hyndla, Harlequin King, and Elizabeth Liones."
Missed by many...? That's all he can say? "Missed..." He can't express the utter brokenness this is making me feel? The soul crushing grief and memories replaying in my head of him smiling next to finding him dying? His lifeless eyes... the foaming at the mouth... the gags and gasps for air he made before it all went still.. went quiet...
"And now, we will say our final goodbyes as he leaves this world for the next. May he find peace, and comfort that he could not receive in this world."
Before Meliodas could process or even think about what was happening, the crate holding the lifeless shell of his little brother- the person he had practically raised and the one he had seen only a week before- was being lowered into the ground, along with any doubt that this was a dream.
________________________________________"Zeldris! Dinner's almost ready! I know my cooking isn't the greatest, but I tried really hard this time. I think it turned out okay, what do you thin- ZELDRIS!"
With wide eyes and a crash of the spoon he was holding, he ran to his little brother's side, a syringe in the boy's limp hand and a glazed look in his eyes.
"Nononono you promised! You promised me you had stopped! You were getting better! Oh God please... PLEASE!"
He tried to get his brother to look at him, to do anything but gasp and jerk around as his body slowly shut down.
"Please... don't leave me like this! Stay with me! The ambulance is on the way! Please!"
Knowing there was nothing else he could do on his own, he gently moved his brother's head onto his lap and sang to him just like he used to do when Zeldris had a bad dream.

"Let's go in the garden..
You'll find something waiting,
right there where you left it lying upside down...
When you finally find it, you'll see how it's faded..
The underside is lighter, when you turn it around..Everything stays... right where you left it...
Everything stays,
but it still changes
Ever so slightly, daily and nightly
In little ways, when everything...... everything...."He broke down soon before he finished as he watched the struggling slow and his breathing eventually stop after a few more gasps. The sirens could be heard in the distance, but... they were too late.
_________________________________________The flashback was cut off by the sensation of wet droplets landing on the blond's shoulder and the sound of thunder in the distance.
Rain.. how fitting. Even the heavens are crying. Or maybe they're just trying to wash away the pain...
Weeping could be heard from others, the sins included, however not a single tear was shed from the grieving brother. Not because he didn't care, but becasue he had cried endlessly every day and every night since it had happened. The evidence showing in the red irritation in his eyes and the large black rings around them showing the lack of sleep.
He didn't know how long he was standing there in the rain, but it was long enough for the others to begin clearing out and his clothes to become soaked.
"Captain... um, y-you're going to get a cold if you keep standing here. We are going back to Ban's place for reception, if you want to come. We understand if you want to be alone though.."
He didn't acknowledge the brunette trying to reach him, still standing there staring at where the tomb had been lowered.
Frowning in worry at the unresponsiveness, King shrugged and looked at the others, not knowing what to do. Getting the message, Ban decided to try next. After all.. he had gone to the hospital with Meliodas and had seen him breakdown firsthand.
"Heya Cap'n... I um... I'm sorry about this.. I know how much this must be hurting you right now. Just know that.. you don't have to go through this alone. We're all here for you when ya need us, got it?"
Once again, no response. Sighing as his attempt shared the same results as the other's, he patted Meliodas on the shoulder gently, and walked off with the others in tow.
He.. understands? How can he...
His brother isn't dead.
Alright guys, this will be a two parter which is why the first chapter is so short. I hope you guys like this and I'm sorry for my lack of updates.

Oneshots!
FanfictionA bunch of oneshots that I've been wanting to do! They will not have any relation to one another unless the story is a 2-5 part story. The stories will also have a possibility of becoming books later on if people enjoy the story or I feel like there...
