Meliodas's mind felt scattered as he headed to the town he was instructed to attack. He felt like there was something he was forgetting, something he needed to remember, and something that hurt to forget.

However there was also something else there. Something screaming in his head that this was right, this was who he was supposed to be.

He flew into the town with the fog still covering his mind and blocking out something he felt was important.

Just ignore it. I have a mission to complete, I can worry about this odd feeling after.

As soon as he landed and withdrew his wings, villagers surrounded him as his hand tightened on his sword, preparing for a foolish attack as that was what usually happened before a slaughter.

But surprisingly what happened happened instead was much different.

"The captain of The Sins!"

"He's here to help us!"

"We're saved!"

He froze as they all looked at him with endearment and praise, not one of them having any spark of fear in their eyes.

What the hell happened while I was out!? Zeldris said I hit my head during battle and awoke several days later, but if that's the case why are these peasants acting so strange!? Could it be a response to a spell? An artifact perhaps? I suppose it doesn't matter in the end, Zeldris still told me my mission was to eradicate them, which means they aren't on our side.

Preparing to pull put his blade and take out the lot of them in one swing, he was once again annoyingly interrupted by several people coming up to him with smiles.

"Captain! You're back? How did it go? Did you get the artifact?"

"You'll be pleased by sales in the tavern, Hawke helped run the place pretty well!"

"There was only one attack that happened just a few minutes ago by some of the Commandments, but Zeldris and Estarossa weren't there."

"Yeah, then they left shortly after, it was pretty weird but no one was hurt, which is all that matters."

They all went back and forth talking and he started getting more annoyed as they did so. They were acting like they knew him, like they were old friends or something like that. It was irritating and he felt disrespected by how casual they acted. Even though they said "captian" for some odd reason, they meant friend. And he was certainly not their friend.

The tall skinny one with white hair seemed to notice his irritation first as he signaled for the girl with pigtails to stop talking.

"This isn't our captain. We need to evacuate the people, now!"

"Ban what are you-"

The fairy without wings didn't get to finish as Meliodas finally got tired of all of the chatter and swiftly pulled out his weapon before knocking the lot of them back. He wasn't sure why he didn't just kill them in one hit with the weapon like he logically should have, but for some reason, he was holding back.

"They used that weird weapon on him, they had to of."

"B-Ban what are you talking about!?"

"Look at his eyes Diane! He's not our captain."
