Alternate version of Broken.
Meliodas yelped as he was thrown against the wall. He had never been a good cook, so this was quite frequent when making his masters their lunch. He always got the order or food wrong, and it always made his masters very angry.
One of them letting out an annoyed sigh now after striking the boy.
"I swear, you're completely hopeless! You were some of the worst money I ever spent! This is the third time in a week you've made despicable food! You're trying to poison us, aren't you?!"
The blond whimpered as he was kicked, but kept his head down in submission and tried to make himself look as small as possible.
"Ban, that's enough. Remember, he still needs to clean up and if you injure him much more, he'll be useless."
"He already IS useless! How many orders do we give that he gets wrong!? Even under our control, demons are completely worthless."
"Even so, we did spend a lot of money on him even when I told you not to, so we better put him to work."
Sighing again as he admitted the fairy was right, the immortal barked an order for the boy to clean up the mess in which he followed instantly. Thus leaving the others to sit and talk about the purchase they made two weeks ago from an older man selling others like the demon by the dozen.
"Do you really think he has no purpose? Surely we can find something he is capable of doing. After all, demons are incredibly stupid, we should try starting smaller until he's trained."
"Hah! Like we could train him to begin with. Monsters like him are only good for fighting and destruction. We were fools to believe that old guy when he told us this one was pre-trained and smarter than the others."
"A-Are you sure he is though? He understands us and seems to try his best. And he's only a boy, m-maybe we're just being a little hard on him."
They all looked over at the princess saying such preposterous things. She was the only one among the group who had never encountered a demon previously, she didn't know the carnage they caused nor the simplness of their minds. Which is why she was against their treatment of the "boy" from the very beginning.
"Demons are older than they appear, he's probably as old as me or Diane, they just have the mental capacity of a child. With all due respect, you don't know what they're like Elizabeth. You've never met one, we all have. We know what we're talking about.
She accepted the answer regardless of the doubt in her mind and left the others to continue chatting and ranting about the demon's idiocy.
Not having much else to do and feeling bad, the girl decided to use her time away from the others to help the boy frantically trying to clean dishes much too big for him and the surrounding area where some dishes had been broken and food was spilled.
She walked over to him and gasped as she noticed a lot of blood coming from his head from when Ban slammed him into the wall, as well as blood on his hands where he had obviously been picking up broken glass with his hands alone.
"You're hurt! Here, let me finish up and then I can-"
"N-No! I-If you do my masters will get angry..."
She was stunned. He talked, he actually said something. In perfect English.
Clearly he realized it too by how all color drained from his face and he tensed up with his head down in submission.
"I-I'm sorry! I-I-I shouldn't back-talk. P-Please forgive me.."
"Shh, it's okay. I'm more worried about those cuts. I don't understand it, Ban is normally never this cruel. Even if he deems you a bad choice of spending, why would he act like this?"
