This is basically instead of the fight between Meliodas and Gloxina/Drole. Instead he's fighting Zeldris.

Meliodas panted as he recovered from the blow. Zeldris was going all out, and although the blond had recovered some of his previous power, it wasn't enough to take down the furious demon. No, the only thing keeping him standing was his pure skill and experience alone.

However the two both knew... that would only keep him standing for so long.

He had taken on quite a bit of damage and had barely landed a hit on the other although good ones at that. At this rate, the knight would drop within the hour.

Staggering back to his feet, Meliodas tried his best to hide the pain he was feeling. Not only for the sake of not seeming weak in front of his brother, but also because he knew the sins were watching, and he didn't want to make his inevitable death harder on them then necessary.

"Still stupid enough to get back to your feet I see. You truly are a disgrace to the demon realm... Meliodas."

There was so much hatred in the ravenette's voice as the name of the blond left his lips, nothing like the kind and innocent boy he used to be..

No, the demon shook his head when the thought came to mind.

He's my enemy now. There's no point focusing on the past...

Forcing his body to attack regardless of his weakened state, Meliodas charged the other with strength and speed he was running out of. All the while the other sins watching with concern and worry for their captain's life.

"He's not gonna make it like this! That damn demon will kill him!"

"But what can we do!? If the captian can't win neither can we! If we try to interfere, we'll just get us all killed.."

"So we're just supposed to leave him!?"

King had no response for Ban... not liking the idea of it either regardless of his previous hostility towards the captain.

"No, I have an idea. One that should end this fight with our Captain's life still intact."

Merlin knew that even if he died, the blond would always come back, however he wasn't far off from losing himself after all of the deaths he experienced trying to save Elizabeth or killing himself over losing her again. She needed to interfere, and in a way that would be beneficial to everyone involved and avoid further fighting.. and she knew the perfect way.

Teleporting her and the other sins to the battle field after explaining the plan, she stayed back to cast the enchantment while the others got to work.

Meliodas was as alarmed and confused as Zeldris when the other sins came onto the field. Especially when he would've thought Merlin would restrain them if they tried. After all, he could come back, they couldn't! He didn't want their deaths to be in vain, especially when there was no way any of them could defeat Zeldris, not even Meliodas himself which he already knew was likely when getting into this battle.

Concerned as all of the sins started attacking, he commanded them to back down, non of them listening and Merlin nowhere to be found.

What the hell are they doing? Why isn't Merlin here? I've known her long enough to know she wouldn't just abandon us like this, unless.... oh no, she planning something!

As soon as the thought came to mind, he could begin to feel the magic energy being spent on the enchantment being cast somewhere unseen. Filling him even further with alarm as he realized what the spell was.

A reversion spell! No! They can't cast that! It'll make-

Before the thought even finished and before he could verbally protest, the spell took effect and he watched as smoke surrounded Zeldris. Making Meliodas see red at not only the reckless behavior but also the fact that Merlin already knew why the spell was not a good idea.

Determined to find the mage and give her a piece of his mind, he approached the others cheering at victory and tried to ask as calmly as he could. After all, they didn't know the full truth like Merlin did, he couldn't get mad at then for simple ignorance.

"Where's Merlin?"

He knew even regardless of his attempts, the blond still sounded agitation, but at least he got an answer right away.

Storming off- more like limping- towards the mage's location, he shot her a glare when she came into sight.

"Hello Captain, how are you feeling? We need to get those wounds taken care of. Luckily nothing is too deep."

"Don't play coy Merlin, we both know that's not on my mind right now."

"Oh? And what is?"

"The damn spell you cast on Zeldris! Of all of the things you could've used, why that one!?"

"Because now we have someone who will be easy to interrogate. Besides, I thought you would be more happy with this arrangement rather than something harmful."

"Do you really not understand what you did Merlin? You know better than anyone why this is a bad idea, he wasn't who he is now back then, and we both know damn well that-"

Feeling a tug at his jacket, Meliodas looked down and felt his hearts get pulled at at seeing a little five year old Zeldy again with a completely innocent expression on his face and in his emerald eyes that matched the other's.

"Big brother? What's wrong?"

Not knowing what to say as he hadn't heard his sibling call him that in a few millennia, the blond let his brotherly instincts kick in as he scooped up the child and tried his best to keep emotions under check as the boy wrapped his arms around the other and rested his head on the demon's shoulder.

"N-Nothing Zeldris... just, get some sleep."

Buying the lie pretty quickly, the boy yawned and snuggled down, taking the other's advice.

This is exactly why Meliodas didn't want Merlin to use that spell... because it was one thing fighting his brother now and pretending the protective and brotherly love he had for the other didn't exist anymore, but it was another seeing him small and innocent again.. and realizing that regardless of how Meliodas denied it... it was still there.

Sorry it's not exactly brotherly fluff, but it's set for the second part which will be! (This will only be two parts by the way) I was going to write it all in one, but unfortunately I don't have time today, so two parts it is!
