Set during the fight between the Commandments and SDS because I think that time would fit the most for this story. Requested by A1212129. I hope you enjoy it!
Meliodas was a bit surprised that Zeldris wasn't present during the current battle against the Commandments. Nor was Estarossa.
It wasn't a truly big deal, they had left fighting the sins to the others in the past. However the odd part was that they were beating the Commandments with their new skills and powers on their side, and yet still no backup had come. They would usually step in by now, especially to protect their pride as demons.
So where were they?
Meliodas could feel something was off, the feeling only growing as the last three Commandments that hadn't been beaten into a bloody pulp retreated. Although even after ten minutes of tense waiting, no backup was brought!
What the hell is going on? We beat them, no backup. They retreated, no backup. They just completely ran away! I mean, I'm happy the town is safe, but something's wrong, I can feel it. Although I don't know why I should be worried, it's clearly nothing wrong with us... Whatever, I should stop thinking about it. I'm not on that side of the war anymore..
Forcing the thoughts to stop and pushing down the feeling, he smiled at the others all celebrating and decided to join them, having no idea how much his "bad feeling" was right.
_________________________________________Zeldris's fever was getting worse now, and none of the doctors were quite sure why. Nothing appeared to be wrong with him other than the alarming fever and the lack of energy. Although along with the increasing fever came delusions and constant sleeping that was starting to worry his brother. Which is why even when the other Commandments came back completely defeated and revealed they had given up their pride and ran away from a fight, he let it go and stayed put to focus on his sibling's health.
"L-Left us... brother... Why? Why'd.. leave..."
"Shh, just rest Zeldris. You aren't well."
However regardless of him trying to comfort his unwell brother, Zeldris still tossed and turned while his fever continued to rise higher and higher, something that definitely worried Estarossa as he sought help from the other doctors.
Although what he didn't know at the time was that it was a very bad idea to leave the fever filled demon alone as the thoughts going through Zeldris's mind spurred him to do something crazy.
_________________________________________It's the middle of the night? Who could be at the door?
The knocking got louder as response to his thoughts as Meliodss rushed his pursuit of making it stop by answering.
Although out of everyone he expected to be on the other side of it.. it wasn't Zeldris with an almost drunk glaze covering his features and tears streaming down his face.
"How could you...."
"Z-Zeldris wha-"
"HOW COULD YOU LEAVE!?"
There was so much emotion behind those four simple words, and it took Meliodas a minute to recover as he hadn't realized how much Zeldris had been affected by his absence. Nor had he realized just how much the demon was still that child from before regardless of the cold mask the ravenette always wore.
"You... You meant so much to me. You were my big brother... So why? Why did you leave me? What... What did I do to make you.... leave... m-me.."
Before Meliodas could respond, before he could explain or justify his actions, before he could even ask the other what this was all about, Zeldris's eyes fluttered closed and he dropped almost immediately after finishing his words.
Luckily because of his reflexes, Meliodas had been able to catch the boy. But the quick relief that came with the catch was very short-lived because of the alarm that came with how much the demon was burning up.
"You have a really bad fever.. so that's why you're acting like this. Guess it explains why you weren't at the fight either..."
Sighing as unwanted worry filled Meliodas, he carefully scooped up the other and took the boy back to the blond's room. After all, Zeldris would need a place to sleep and hide while Merlin took a look at him. It would be pretty bad if the others found out about this after all. They didn't even know the two were brothers.
Although I don't even know why I'm helping him. Sure we're brothers, but we're on different sides of the war! We've already kind of agreed that we're enemies now. So why do I want to help him... and why did he sound so hurt? Sure he has a fever, but.... emotions like that aren't just randomly made because of some delusions... there's some truth to it. Damn, this whole thing just got a heck of a lot more complicated.
Sighing from being emotionally drained, he made sure Zeldris was situated properly and settled down before planning to walk away to get Merlin, only for the boy to start stirring really bad while mumbling about his brother and how he left. A few I hate you and abandons mixed in.
Does he really think I left because of him? Oh Zeldris... that wasn't why at all. Although... how can I expect you to know that when I never explained?
Feeling guilt weighing down on the blond's chest, Meliodas decided to stay with the ravenette until the next day so they could get this worked out.
I'm not leaving again... don't worry Zel. I'm not going anywhere.
The words seemed to actually calm the other as his presence did too. Laying down in the bed and allowing Zeldris to curl up next to him, Meliodas made sure no one was nearby and activated his magic to help cool the other down and to keep him calm so he could sleep peacefully. Something that luckily worked as a small smile graced the demon's lips.
I remember doing this with you when you were really little. I.... never realized how much I missed doing simple things like this with you brother. I guess you did though.. I'm sorry. I'm sorry I ever made you feel like any of this was because of you. I hope maybe we can push passed this and.. maybe you'll let me be your big brother again.
He had no idea how long Zeldris had waited for a moment like that in his years sealed away or during the Holy War, and now that it was here? Maybe things could really start moving foward.
Sorry this isn't my best. I hope you like it though A1212129.

FanfictionA bunch of oneshots that I've been wanting to do! They will not have any relation to one another unless the story is a 2-5 part story. The stories will also have a possibility of becoming books later on if people enjoy the story or I feel like there...
