#57 Going Back

This was requested by CoolXZ. Sorry it took so long! I set this during the fight where (spoilers although you shouldn't be reading this if you haven't gotten to this point)

Meliodas dies. Instead of him dying or fighting alone, all of the Commandments are there except a few, and all of the sins fought while Elizabeth stayed behind with Lil Gil and that trio.

Ban, King, Diane, even Merlin and Gowther had been taken. One by one each was captured by the Ten Commandments. Well, most of the Ten Commandments. Zeldris as well as Drole and Gloxinia were nowhere to be found. Although it seemed like the others had a major power up, being the main reason the Sins had been caught due to them not anticipating this.

They were all tied up in ropes that canceled their magic or abilities, making it difficult for them to escape. However that wasn't the worst part... The worst part was that they were about to be dropped into a giant pit of hellfire, and Meliodas couldn't do anything about it.

"Let them go!"

His normally cheery voice was clearly desperate and worried at this point, causing the Commandments to smirk as they knew this meant they were getting to him.

"And why would we do that?"

"Because I'll beat you into oblivion otherwise. You know that I can.."

There was a threat deep in his words that's tone matched what it had so many years ago. It sent shivers down the demon's spines, but oh they were so happy to hear it again. Because it meant their leader was still in there... and that their plan had that much higher of a success rate in working. And they hadn't even pulled out their big move yet!

"Maybe you could in the past, and maybe you can still take out a few of us easily, but we both know you won't take us all out in time to save them. You'd only be killing them with your foolishness. Besides, wasn't that one of the first lessons you taught me? Never act before fully assessing the situation you're in."

Meliodas tensed at hearing those words from his brother. Partially because of the time they reminded him of, and partially because of the fact that the sins would hear this as well. And he wasn't sure if he was ready for them to know of his past.

"Oh yeah? Well how about a new lesson..."

The blond trailed off as he used his speed to run and punch the demon in the face.

"NEVER underestimate me!"

He did a few more skillful moves that were clearly practiced. First taking out Galand while he was stunned, then hopping over to Monspeet and using his range to make him accidently hit Derieri. However the damage these three took would be all he would do as he heard a familiar voice that made him freeze.

"S-Sir Meliodas!"

Elizabeth?! When had she been caught? I told her to stay with Hawke and Little Gil! Did they get caught too or did she follow me?

His mind was spinning and his attacks had instantly stopped due to it.

"I swear if you touch a single hair on her head I'll-!"

He growled out the words but didn't get to finish them as Estarossa interrupted.

"You'll what? Choose to save her over the sins you supposedly care about? You'll try to attack us again without the element of surprise and with our superior strength? You'll try to save both and watch them both die? Think about it Meliodas... you don't have any options here."

The blind hated that the other was right, but he couldn't deny that he was.

"What do you want...."

Once again he ground out the words in a terrifying voice the sins hadn't heard before in their captain. Although it confirmed in King's mind who he really was. Even more so the next words spoken.

"We want you to come back."

All of the sins were shocked, Meliodas included. He hadn't expected that. He knew his father wanted him back, but he hadn't expected them to. He left them, he even killed two of them, he left for a woman that he loved, a GODDESS no less and they wanted him to go back?

"What are the terms?"

A smirk came onto Estarossa's face as if he already knew this meant he won.

"You will come back as the leader of the Commandments and as the crown prince. You will take your place on the throne and in the battlefield. In exchange, we will let the sins and Elizabeth go. As long as they do not interfere and you do not try to leave, no harm will come to any of them. Elizabeth will live a peaceful life and the sins may do the same. Isn't that what you always wanted for her? For them?"

Meliodas didn't say a word, he stood there for a minute that felt like eternity to the sins as a few protested, while the others were silent as they processed the truth of the Captain's heritage.

"Don't do it Cap'n!"

"Ban is right! Don't do something rash!"

Ban and Merlin's voices rang out as soon Diane joined them. He hadn't seen them so worried before. Although he already knew he made up his mind.

Estarossa was right, he couldn't save all of them, and he wouldn't forgive himself if he chose Elizabeth over the sins as he knew he would've. Even though Elizabeth was always his first priority, the sins felt like family to him. The family he never truly had..

Besides, the curse made it so Elizabeth would always die in front of him, if he never saw her again, she would be allowed a peaceful and happy life. Something he always wished for her..

So with a heavy heart, he ignored the sin's cries out to him even as Elizabeth joined them.

Letting his demon mark appear, he showed the others his true form as his mind was made up.

"I accept your offer."

A truly victorious smile formed on each of the Commandments faces as they teleported away. The leader of the sins following as he went back to something he never thought he would..
