The day had started like most others for Elizabeth. However unbeknownst to her, it wouldn't end anything like even her wildest dreams could come up with. Nor would the following to come.

A simple chore like picking some berries for medicine had turned potentially deadly for the poor girl. And changed her forever.... The only question on her mind now is... was it for the better or for the worse?

"Elizabeth!"

Silver hair swished back and forth as the owner of it flew over to her sister's call.

"Yes Veronica? Is something wrong?"

"Are you on berry picking duty today?"

Puzzled cerulean met eyes that mirrored their color"

"Y-Yes. Is there something wrong with that? You seem troubled."

The girl sighed before shaking her head. She had been a commander on the front line for years, and as such held an intimidating aura about her. Although she was never outright cruel, she was tough from her years of service. Which made it incredibly rare to see her so nervous over something.

"No.. just be careful Lizzy. Goddesses have been going missing lately and we have reason to believe that demons are hiding at the border and waiting for goddesses to show. I know you're strong, but you are a healer and don't have any fighting experience.. I'm worried you'll be an easy target if this is the case."

The goddess felt her heart drop in both worry and shame at hearing her sister's words. She was worried about the disappearances, however it was something else that stuck with her more.

She knew that they weren't meant as an insult, as well as they were true, but it hurt knowing that she would be a liability if the need to fight ever arose. She didn't want to be a burden or a source of worry.

Waving goodbye to her sister and promising to be safe, she flew off to the border as she had done every month ever since she was a small child.

Humming a small tune to herself as she quickly became engulfed in her work, she didn't notice a twig snapping behind her, or the fact that every animal had gone quiet for they knew what that thing was... or rather.......

Who.

A rush of air was her only warning as a knife was pressed firmly against her neck, nearly cutting into it from the sharpness.

"Don't move. Even think about doing so and you'll be choking on your own blood before you know it."

The voice she could tell was male, and was dripping with pure venom that was unmatched by any other she had heard before.

She obeyed his order, knowing she wouldn't be able to fight in her current situation.

I should have listened to Veronica... For Diety's sake why am I so weak!?

The thought passed quickly as she felt a warm liquid on her back that dripped down onto the ground below. Feeling panicked as her first thought was that she was injured, she clenched her eyes shut and waited for the pain to register. After all, with the knife still pressed firmly against her pulse point, there would be no change of escape.

A minute passed with no pain of any kind hitting her body. Feeling confused, she tried her best to look behind her and felt alarm at seeing blood leaving the demon holding her captive. It was clear he had been injured previously, and against her better judgment, she felt worry for him as no doubt he would drop dead soon.
