Severide's POV: When Matt said that one of the surrogates was the spitting image of Hallie, aka his late ex-fiancé...I spit out my beer because I was in disbelief. "What?" Matt just glared at me. "Go get some towels and clean that up. Don't need to have little sticky hands all over the place." I then sighed and nodded as I got up and walked over to the kitchen. "Sorry, but you're kidding me right? There's another woman out there who is the spitting image of Hallie? Sorry, but I want proof considering how hot your fiancé was. Sorry but, I was tempted to flirt with her once you guys broke up." Matt then glared at me. "Dude, what the hell!"

I then glared at him. "Dude, she looked more like a Hollywood actress than a doctor. She was hot." I then grabbed some towels before walking over to him. "By the way, chill. You are married now." Matt nodded and sighed. "Still, it's weird to think my best friend had a thing for my then-fiancé. It would be like me wanting to be with Stella in between one of your breakups and makeups." I nodded and agreed after cleaning up. "Still, I want proof."

Matt then nodded as he went to grab his iPad he kept out there before bringing up her profile. He then showed it to me. I just looked at the picture and was in shock. "Holy crap, Gabby wasn't kidding that she looked just like Hallie." I then looked at the profile more and saw she's a medical resident at a hospital in Chicago. "And of course, she's also a resident at a hospital in Chicago." Matt laughed and nodded. "Exactly why we have not chosen her."

I then decided to look at some of the other profiles when Matt stopped me. "Okay, you can't look anymore. I just showed you the pictures. You don't have clearance to read the profiles." I was confused when he said that. "What?" Matt sighed. "Confidentiality agreement. We can look at it because she is going to be carrying our child and we have the right to make an informed decision as to whether to take the risk with a certain surrogate."

I then understood and nodded. "You guys going to get a contract to make sure you guys are protected legally?" Matt sighed and nodded. "Gabby is insisting on it. She wants a guarantee that we will get the baby when they're born. Horror stories." I agreed and nodded. "So, that's why Gabby was so interested in having Stella be her surrogate." Matt nodded again. "Because she's someone we both trust and know would never steal the baby."

Matt then turned his head when he heard Gabby come out. "You really explaining all my fears?" Gabby then walked over to the kitchen to grab some water. "Matt, can you please not let Severide comment on our candidates? I don't want anybody to influence us remember? This is our choice really, it is something we shouldn't talk about with other people. Please baby, think about it. It's not something I am proud of that we need to use a surrogate."

Matt just looked at her. "Gabby, it's to protect your health and keep you around so you can raise the baby with me. Don't ever be embarrassed or ashamed of it okay? Believe me when I say this...I will make sure that you get the treatment as if you were pregnant while the surrogate is pregnant. It's the least I can do considering you didn't have me with you last time around. Also, we are going to be very involved. We are going to be in this together all along the way."

Gabby then nodded as she walked over to him with her water before grabbing his hand. "Still, I am not looking for comments from the peanut gallery. Oh by the way Severide, BBQ at your wedding? What the hell!" I then looked at her and sighed. "What's wrong with the idea of BBQ as a meal at the reception?" Matt then turned to look at Gabby. "Let me take care of this. Don't waste your time on this idiot. Let me do it for you." Gabby smirked and nodded as she walked away to the bedroom.

Matt then turned to look at me and shook his head. "Dude, how in the world do you even consider that? Think about the mess BBQ food makes." I just shrugged. "So what?" Matt then got up and walked over to me, slapping my head. "Dude, your wife is wearing a white wedding gown! You really think she wants to eat BBQ at her wedding?" Matt then went to sit down on the couch again and stared at me. "Dude, this isn't Vegas. This is a real wedding."

I nodded and understood now. "Sorry, just guessed we could do something different." Matt then nodded. "Then do something different that isn't as dirty as BBQ. Also, you might want to also have other options for vegetarians and stuff." I nodded and agreed. "Now, you going to be drinking that night?" Matt nodded. "Hopefully, we can get a babysitter for after your wedding. Probably have to beg my sister to come into town so she can watch him. By the way, you talk to your mom and tell her that you are getting married?"

I sighed and then looked at him. "I have to wait until I get a response from my sister first. Then, I have to have another conversation with my mom whether she would be comfortable coming to my wedding if I invited my half-sister." Matt laughed. "Dude, let me remind that it's your wedding. You really think I want to invite both my mom...who's a convicted criminal and my police officer brother-in-law to my vow renewal?" I laughed and agreed. "Shut, and I thought my wedding was going to be a shit show. They sitting together?" I sighed and nodded.

"Not sure if my sister would be okay with sitting with her. But, I might need to ask her." Matt then went to grab his phone. "Let me guess, you're texting your sister to ask her?" Matt laughed and nodded. "Yep." He then sent a text and waited for an answer from his sister.
