Back with Matt & Gabby as they arrive at Laura's place to pick up Eva:
Matt's POV: As I pull up to Laura's Place, I smiled as I turned to look at Gabby. "You already text Eva that we are here to pick her up?" Gabby then nodded and smiled. "I already did it the moment we turned onto her mom's street. In fact, she's right there." That's when I turned my head and looked at Eva. Rolling down my window, I watched her hug her mom before waving to her. "Hi Laura. Hi Eva." Eva then turned to look at us and faked a smile. I knew she was sad.Her and Laura then walked over to the car together. "Eva, can you please put your mask on? Matteo is here in the van with us." Eva then realized that and nodded. "Of course." Eva then went to put her mask on before opening the door. Laura then smiled at Gabby. "How's life as parents going? I know this is what you both always wanted." I sighed and looked at her. "Right now, it's pretty crappy. We were going to go for a surrogate pregnancy when all this happened."
Laura then looked at us confused. "Gabby doesn't want to get pregnant again?" I sighed and turned to look at Gabby. "It's health problems I have. Prefer not to talk about it." Laura agreed and understood. "Sorry I asked." I then turned to look at Gabby. "Sorry." Gabby then grabbed my hand and smiled. "It's fine." Gabby then turned to look at Eva as she got in and looked at Matteo. "How are you doing Eva? You feel sad right now or anything?" Eva then sighed and nodded.
Laura then spoke up. "She was so excited to be a big sister to a little girl." I agreed and nodded as I turned to look at Eva. "Someday Eva, you will be a great cousin to our future daughter if we have one. I promise, you can treat her just like a little sister if you want." Eva then smiled when I said that and nodded. Laura then looked at Gabby. "How was Puerto Rico Gabby?" Gabby then smiled. "It's coming along. Someday, I'm going to go back but...not yet." I smiled and nodded.
I smiled when she said that and nodded. "We're going to go together this time though as a family." Laura smiled when I said that. "Sounds perfect. I have a feeling though that Antonio might go for a while too. He and Sylvie probably need time out of the city. Are they still doing the wedding on June 26th?" Gabby sighed. "As far as I know yes. Why, are you invited?" Laura then shook her head. "Not going. It's awkward to have your ex-husband marry another woman."
Gabby nodded and agreed. "I understand. It probably would've been hard to go to Matt's wedding if he ever got married to someone else had we not gotten back together." I sighed when she said that before nodding as I grabbed her hand. "Never going to happen considering we are forever." I then intertwined our fingers and smiled at her. "Listen, as much as we want to speak to you Laura...we need to get going to Antonio's place so Eva and help her dad through this."
Laura then nodded and looked at Eva. "Make sure you tell your dad I send my condolences. Sure, I may not like who your future stepmom is going to be but...I would never wish this on anybody." Gabby sighed and just decided to shut up. "Listen, we better get going." Laura then nodded. "Bye sweetie." She then shut the door and went to walk back inside while we drove away. Eva then spoke up. "Sorry about my mom. She's just bitter that my dad found someone."
Gabby nodded and understood. "I am not going to comment on that considering I know what happened when your parents were having marital problems. So, I would rather we drop this conversation okay Eva? Now listen, I want to let you know that you should probably not talk about babies right now with your dad and Sylvie. Sylvie is taking this really hard because it was her first pregnancy. And believe me, loosing a child you never met is very hard to go through."
I then moved to grab Gabby's hand when she said that and rubbed it, making her feel better as I drove towards Antonio's place. "We can speak from experience. Remember, we lost a baby a few years ago remember Eva?" Eva nodded and agreed. "Yes, I remember. You were a wreck but, my dad said that it made you guys stronger as a couple." I smiled and agreed. "It did. And hopefully, this will help make Sylvie and Antonio stronger before they get married."
Eva agreed and smiled when Gabby said that. "Hopefully it will. Now, are you guys staying?" Gabby then shook her head. "No, it's just going to be you, them and Diego." Eva nodded and agreed. "We already saw them when they went to the hospital earlier today." Eva understood and nodded. That's when I turned the corner to head towards Antonio's when I saw Diego drive next to us. I then smiled at him and waved.
Diego waved back and smiled as we both made our way to Antonio and Sylvie's place together. "Now Eva, we are just dropping you off. You and Diego are going to head inside okay?" Eva nodded and agreed before turning her attention to Matteo. "Hey little buddy, remember me? I'm your cousin Eva." I then smiled when she did that before looking at Gabby who was smiling too. "She is going to be a great big sister." We both nodded and agreed when I said that.
That's when I pulled up to Antonio's place and saw him come out to great his kids. Eva then looked at us and smiled. "Thanks for the ride." She then got out and grabbed her bag before closing the door. She then ran over to her dad and went to hug him. Me and Gabby just sat there for a minute, watching as the three of them held each other close. "They will get through this together as family, I promise Gabby." Gabby nodded and agreed.
"Let's get going okay? We are due to meet Jay and Erin at the gym soon." I nodded and agreed when Antonio waved. We both waved back while I drove off to head to the gym.
