Meanwhile with Matt & Gabby
Matt's POV: As me and Gabby drove back home from the hospital, I sighed because it was really quiet. We didn't know what to say considering we were just as much in shock as Antonio and Sylvie over what happened. Having lost a child before, we knew how painful it was. Especially when you never got to meet him or her. I then decided to grab Gabby's hand and went to make sure she was okay. "If you want to ask Jay and Erin to keep him longer..." Gabby then turned her head and shook it. "No, I need to have him with us. I need a distraction that isn't sex related."

I nodded and understood. "I am still going to hold you in my arms and at least kiss you okay? We can just relax in bed as a family. And being honest, I am not in the mood to do anything. I still feel so bad for Antonio. Just the look on his face when he learned that they lost a baby is not something I am going to forget." Gabby nodded and understood. "Just curious, was it similar at all to the face you made when we learned that our pregnancy wasn't viable way back when?

I sighed and looked at her. "I wasn't going to say anything but...I did have a flashback to that day today. It was just too similar. So, yes...I broke down a bit and just remembered that we made it past that. So, I have complete faith that Antonio and Sylvie will too." Gabby nodded and agreed. "Can we not watch TV and just sit in silence in bed when we get home? I know it wasn't our child but with the flashbacks...and the fact that it was our niece makes a bit more emotional."

I agreed and smiled when I turned onto Jay and Erin's street. It was helpful that everything was so close. Literally everything we needed in life as within a 5 mile radius. The hospital, work, our friends and family, plus all the stores we needed on a regular basis. So, it never took us long to get anywhere. That's when I pulled up to their house and saw Jay already standing there with Matteo. I smiled when I saw Gabby get out. "Let me guess, you want Erin in bed?" Jay laughed.

"I wish. No, I just guess that you wanted to head home as soon as possible. Thought it'd help if I was out here when you got here so that you can just plop him into your van." Gabby then opened the back door and let Jay put him in his car seat. "That is really easy." Gabby smiled when he said that. "How are you guys anyways?" Gabby sighed. "Emotional circus. We are sad for my brother and also having flashbacks to when we lost our child. It was a rough day."

Jay nodded and understood. "Listen, if you guys want us to keep him longer...we can." Gabby shook her head. "I need a distraction. Matteo is going to keep my mind pre-occupied. That way I am not thinking about Sylvie and Antonio as much." Jay then looked at me. "You are pretty disappointed with this decision aren't you?" I then glared at him. "Jay! Gabby is emotional because it is bringing flashbacks. So, shut up and head inside. Gabby, just get in."

Gabby nodded and agreed. "Thanks for watching him Jay." Jay then nodded. "Sorry about that." Gabby then went to buckle up again and sighed as Jay closed the door. She then turned to look at me and then grabbed my hand. Intertwining our fingers, I went to rub her hand. "Want to stop at a restaurant and grab something for brunch? I know we just ate at the hospital but, I doubt we are going to want to cook today. Like you said, it wasn't our kid but...it was our niece."

Gabby nodded and liked that idea. "I don't care what we eat okay? Just pick somewhere, we can order and then we can head home. Maybe we can talk to chief about skipping a shift." I then sighed as I looked at her. "You really think he'd let us when it's not our child?" Gabby looked at me. "Worth a shot. I mean, it was our niece." I nodded and sighed. "I'll try to get you off okay? I am going to go in and work with a reliever." Gabby nodded and agreed. "I want to be there."

I then realized that and nodded. "Makes sense. Sorry, you're right...you should at least take time off. That way you can be there for your brother and Sylvie considering you have experience." Gabby smiled and agreed. "I am going to call Chief and update everybody either on our way or when we get home." I then sighed. "I already sent an e-mail to the house to update them. You just have to ask for next shift off." Gabby smiled and agreed as I drove off.

Pulling away from Jay and Erin's place, I smiled as I went to drive us to McDonald's so we could gave some food before heading home.
