One Chicago: Health First Part 4

Chapter 1253

30 Minutes Later:
Matt's POV: As I finished setting up the guest bedroom for Christie and bringing a majority of Matteo's stuffed animals into his crib in our room, I sighed as I looked at Gabby. "We need to tell our friends and family that he has enough stuffed animals okay? I think I lost count about how many we got in every colour of the rainbow." Gabby laughed as she made the ground beef when I walked up behind her. I then moved my hands to her hips and kissed her shoulder.

"What do you say tomorrow morning we leave early and go have breakfast somewhere? Just the two of us." Gabby smiled when I said that before turning around to look at me. "That actually sounds great. But that means we need to tell your sister that we start an hour earlier than we normally do so that we can leave here while also not being late for work." I nodded and agreed before kissing Gabby softly. "Sorry if I am so clingy right now. We can't do this later."

Gabby then nodded. "At least not when we are in the living room with your sister. Promise me that tonight we hang out with your sister for a while? After all, she is watching Matteo all day tomorrow for us. Oh, and she's staying here overnight." I nodded and agreed. "I am going to make sure to tell her that our bed is off limits. I get it's the best bed but, I would rather it remain our bed. Is that rude?" Gabby then sighed. "Yeah, it is. She can sleep in there tomorrow."

I then looked at her and then went to kiss her softly. "We really need to reconsider just doing the day shifts. I am starting to really hate the 24 hours. I know we said something earlier but, in the future we should really just do day shifts. Like later this year I am talking. When baby #2 is here later this year, I am not going to be doing 24 hour shifts." Gabby nodded and agreed with me. "Oh, definitely not. That makes total sense. That way we can both keep working."

I smiled when Gabby said that before going to rub her arm. "Hey, I wanted to run something by you. What if we asked Violet if she wanted to live here with us while she's on spring break soon?" Gabby looked at me confused. "Why?" I then smiled at her. "That way she can watch Matteo for us and we don't need to move him around. Plus, that way her parents don't have to worry about having to entertain her too. She can be here instead and just relax with us or Matteo."

Gabby then bit her lip and thought about it. "Can I think about it? I want to see how bad stuff is. I get we are vaccinated but, if stuff starts to get bad around spring break...then I want to ask Chief if I can stay home again. I get last time we both did but, not this time around. You need to work more Matt. And I am saying that because you are the one who gets the PIC salary. I won't get it because I am not PIC anymore." I nodded and understood what she meant.

"However, if it deals with Jesse...I expect you to be off." I then stared at Gabby and nodded. "Hey, there is nowhere I would rather be than by your side if there's anything that happens to Jesse. Sure, she may not be related to us but...I consider her part of our family now because she is our surrogate. She's blessing us with a second baby. By the way, I am not sure if my sister told Violet yet so we are going to have to tell her I think." Gabby nodded and smiled.

"Hey, think maybe we can ask Christie to watch him for us after supper? I would love to just go out with you on a walk before bed. We have an opportunity to just go out and have a minute together. What do you think?" I smiled and loved that idea. "I would love that." I then went to grab her neck and moved to kiss her softly while holding her close to me. That's when I felt Gabby's hands on my back and just took it slow with me when we heard the door.

I then sighed while looking at Gabby. "We will do that later, I promise. Just need to do it quietly." Gabby then agreed as I let her go. Grabbing her hand, I then smiled as I rubbed it before walking away to the door and letting her hand go. Boy were things great in between us. I don't think I've ever felt this way in a long time. Feels like I'm on cloud 9 right now. However, time to break out of this glow since it's time to welcome my sister to our place. "Hey guys."

Violet then looked at me and smiled when I opened the door. "Hey uncle Matt." She then hugged me and I went to kiss her head. "I am so glad that I am staying with you guys over the next 2 nights." I then looked at her. "Great, us too." I then looked at my sister while Violet walked away. She then hugged me and smiled. "Yeah, about that." I then glared at her. "What did he do this time?" Christie then sighed as she looked at me. "He stopped paying child support."

I then groaned. "Again?" Christie then nodded. "So, I decided to keep her. He doesn't pay...he doesn't get his daughter." Violet then turned around to look at her mom. "Mom, did you forget already? I told you that Taylor was in labor." Christie then looked at Violet. "Oh, you mean..." Violet nodded. "That's why I can't go to my dad's place. My brother is being born today." I then smiled at Christie. "Then he's forgiven. Now, did you already tell Violet?"

Christie then shook her head. "No, we agreed I would be here so...I thought you guys might want to tell her instead. Now, me and her can share a room if that's okay?" I nodded and smiled. "Can you share a bed too? I only bought a futon. I mean, you can sleep on the pull out couch but we need to leave quite early tomorrow morning. We get up around 6:30ish to go to work." Violet then looked at me. "Then can you guys sleep out here?"

Christie then turned to look at Violet. "Violet!" Violet then looked at her mom. "What?" Christie just looked at him. "You do not ask your aunt and uncle to sleep out here when this is their home. What would you say if Matteo came over to our place some day when he's older and asked you to sleep on the couch instead of your bed?" Violet then sighed when he mom said that. "Sorry uncle Matt." I then nodded as I looked at her. "Listen, we can figure this out after supper." Gabby then smiled when I said that. "Good, because it's ready."

Violet then got up and smiled as she walked over. "Want me to help set up stuff?" Gabby then looked at her. "Hands first please." Violet then nodded and agreed as she walked away to the bathroom to watch her hands.
